    Storing CDs with jewel cases

I'm looking to store about 300+ CDs, all of them in jewel cases, and some also in card sleeves.

I'm wary of packing them into cardboard boxes because I reckon they'll all end up smashed, so I've been searching for those aluminium cases but the vast majority (unsurprisingly) are designed without jewel cases in mind. There are a few on Amazon that specifically mention jewel cases, but only a very small number.

Any recommendations would be hugely appreciated

Line the boxes with foam and make sure the CDs don't have space to move around?

Re: Storing CDs with jewel cases

Banana boxes do the job well for me - so long as you don't pack them too tight. The boxes are sturdy enough not to get crushed (unlike a standard cardboard box).

Free too if you go to your local supermarket

    18L Really Useful Box.

I have almost over 2,000 CD's in a bunch of them. They are very strong, stackable, no danger of damaging your CD's in normal use, they aren't expensive and they store roughly 80 CDs each.

Oh and when they are completely full, you can still lift them. Anything bigger and they get far too heavy.

Ah, that's a top idea... and I get a staff discount on those so I can get hold of them pretty cheaply.

Cheers all - been away for a few days hence the delayed response

Store them on a single 2.5" hard disk?

Or... probably a 32gb tansflash card would do it. hehe.

Had five of these delivered today in the strong white variety, £35 for the lot. Works perfectly, and so much cheaper than the junk I was looking at on Amazon. How it didn't occur to me to buy these things (I've been selling them for nearly 3 years now), I don't know, but there you go!

As long as my collection doesn't grow too rapidly I should be sorted for a while yet

Re: Storing CDs with jewel cases

Glad you have a solution that works for you.

I'm a massive fan of these boxes, I haven't found anything else that is as versatile, robust or nearly as good value for money.

With the 18L boxes, I find I can lay any special edition disks on the top once the rest of the box is full. This includes the collectors edition of In Rainbows by Radiohead, it's enough space for a 12" Vinyl or another 8 CDs if I remember right.

Save the fiver and tell him you'll drop them off next time you shop in store. It worked for a friend of mine
