• Over the last several months, Brooks spearheaded a strategy that appeared to be designed to spread the blame across Fleet Street. Several former News of the World journalists said she asked them to dig up evidence of hacking. One said her target was not her own newspapers, but her rivals.
She's a sneaky one
So who is going to be watching the fun tomorrow then?

Actually, thanks to Lulzsec we are up to two now

It would appear new-times.co.uk has been hit so hard with redirects that it's now down. That would explain it... we're laughing quite hard.

I suppose it's interesting to people who like gossip, wild speculation, witchunts (or, er tabloid readers?), and/or political and media self importance.
To those of us who like the leaders of this country to concern themselves with matters of actual importance, it's profoundly bloody irritating.

May we look forward to contribution no. 6 from you in this profoundly bloody irritating gossipy thread? Surely there are matters of greater significance awaiting your deliberations ?
When a subject doesn't appeal to me I generally just ignore it. It's a free Country an' all that.
Seems someone hit Rupert murdock in the hearing

My point is that the massive overreation to this story by the media and politicians- and the fallout of same- is a story in itself and worthy of discussion.
I cannot ignore it- at least not without watching any telly, reading any papers or listening to any radio. Which is hardly fair on me, is it?When a subject doesn't appeal to me I generally just ignore it. It's a free Country an' all that.
But since you seem to be unable to distinguish between a thread on Hexus (hint: we are not making the news here), and the actions of the news media at large, I'll start my own thread in a bit.

I don't see why you see this story as nothing more than gossip and irrelevance.
This is a story about police corruption, constant abuse of peoples privacy and the fact that one man has (or hopefully once had) more power in parliament than everyone else in parliament added together.
It is simply not right that News international effectively got to vet every single politician and the politicians were so afraid anough of the wrath of News international that it affected theie decisions in parliament. This story is about an attack on democracy.
However I take your point about millions of people starving and dying being more important.

Whoa, hold the front page; Rave's getting the knack of this forum lark.
Look, I know what you mean really, every now and then a news story comes along and I can't understand why people are so interested in it. But I think this one has legs yet.
Katie Price, Harper 7 and Jeremy Kyle are idle gossip. Political and police corruption are a bit more important. imo.
I just want the Murdoch's gone from the industry entirely, it's scary having one person controlling the News outlets, and he runs Fox so I blame him for Fireflies demise
Just dropped in to say.. Rave I am surprised at you mate. Either you are not fully comprehending the story and don't get why it's such a big deal or your Hexus account has been hacked.
That's it!
You are Rebekah Brooks and I claim my £5!
HEXUS FOLDING TEAM It's EASY
I am also looking forward to Rave's thread on political corruption in Africa, where tinpot dictators funnel proceeds from natural wealth (such as oil and minerals) into their private bank accounts while leaving their citizens to starve through natural disasters because that money hasn't been invested in infrastructre projects to mitigate against those effects. Because that and the effects are also important.
But as this thread is concerned with alleged corruption and malpractice in this country, can we keep on that topic please.
