I read somewhere that love is a form of obsessive compulsive behaiviour... makes sense really
There's a thin person in every fat person.....that's because they just ate them.
Okay - how about one of the purest forms/signs of love being sacrifice?
And as for love vs. 'in love' - 'In love' is more to do with the feelings, 'love' goes beyond feelings and shows itself in a commitment to another person.
Or here's one I saw on a card in someone's house: "Love is the desire to bless someone with everything that you have".
No trees were harmed in the creation of this message. However, many electrons were displaced and terribly inconvenienced.
im not a deeply religious person, but i have to agree with you there... i think it makes sense and is very trueOriginally Posted by TomWilko

The really scary bible definition is when one of the apostles is asked about love and marriage, his answer is along the lines of;
"A Man should love his wife, as Christ loved the church of his father"
Now being crucified and poked with a sharp stick is not my idea of marriage
Anyway, seriously love is about being willing to sacrifice for someone, it becomes obsessive when you do this at the expense of youself. I'm not talking about running into a burning buillding to save someone, but being there and supporting them all the time and not doing anything for yourself. Living your life through them as it were.
More than this I also thing that love means that you love someone both for the good and points, and not inspite of their faults.
On the subject of loving and being in love, I think that it is possible to love someone and not be "In love" with them. The latter is when the former impinges upon how you live your life.
I was first suprised to see this topic in a computer forums, but on second thought, everyone is human here aswell so I guess I didn't have any reason to be
I have no clue in how I would define love... Or if I even want to.
Light travels faster than sound. Is this why some people appear bright until you hear them speak?
The first flush of youth was upon you when our eyes first met
And i knew that to you and into your life i had to get
i felt light-headed at the touch of this strangers hand
an assault my defences systematically failed to withstand
cos you came at a time
when the pursuit of one true love in which to fall
was the be all and end all
love is only a feeling
(drifting away)
when im in your arms i start believing
(its here to stay)
but love is only a feeling
Anyway
the state of elation that this union of hearts achieved
i had seen, i had touched, i had tasted and i truly believed
that the light of my life
would tear a hole through each cloud that scudded by
just to beam on you and i
Love is only a feeling
(drifting away)
when im your arms i start believing
(its here to stay)
but love is only a feeling
anyway, anyway
Love is only a feeling
(drifting away)
and we've got to stop ourselves believing
(its here to stay)
cos love is only a feeling
Anyway
Sorry, had to do it, the song was playing as I read this thread
Love is aching to see a person if they are not there. And when it doesn't wear off after four years of being together.
Crying when they cry, laughing when they laugh. When even the smallest most trivial things, are special because they are shared. When say, walking along a river bank in the summer the water seems that bit more magical and the sun that bit brighter, because they are there. When even after years your heart races just at the thought of them.
You know it was love when these feelings still happen eight years after you split. (Miss ya Tash)
