Reminds me of that scene in men in black where the hick meets the alien and when asked to drop his rifle, "You can have my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers." The alien responds, "Your proposal is acceptable."
"I'm a PC and I'm alive"
"In a perfect world... spammers would get caught, go to jail, and share a cell with many men who have enlarged their penises, taken Viagra and are looking for a new relationship."

Slight oversimplification, perhaps the concept, but not the implementation - but then Microsoft did the same to Apple - Windows 95 was a shadow of Mac 84.
And Jobs had the vision to develop and take it to a commercial product, which Xerox failed to do. Similar story with MS-Dos (which was a loose copy in funcionalty of very basic Unix commands) and DR-DOS, who failed to capitalise on the IBM PC.

Similar story for Microsft with Digital research and CP/M, DR-DOS, MS-DOS and PC-DOS.

I have seen some videos of the operation of the Xerox Alto which was released in the early to mid 1970s. It does seem to have influenced almost all the GUI overlays seen for desktop OSes in the early to mid 1980s.
BTW,Steve Jobs did say this:
