Well we all have to start somewhere dont we. I'm sure you were a 0 feedback bidder once.
Ben
Yeah I was gonna say exactly the same Ben. As long as it's not negative, it's fine

He's also bidding for a BRAND NEW MOTOROLA V600 + BLUETOOTH HEADSET.
So he's bidding for 2 high value phones that both end about the same time.
He'll be spending £500+.

Maybe he's becoming a dealer.......
You could always contact the other sellers to ask what they thought of him....
If the bloke makes his top bid over your reserve, then the price goes straight up to the reserve.Originally Posted by stuppy

Be very careful! I sold a nokia 6600 on ebay recently and the number of attempted scams I had was staggering, mine were from Indonesia and Romania though. Never accept credit card payments, as said if it's a stolen card the companies can reclaim their money, by which time you've probably seen it go in, thought it was ok and sent the phone... My thread was about a month back if you want to do a search for it, I eventually sold to a bloke who came and picked it up from my house
And be equally careful of someone selling/buying loads of high value items with little or no previous feedback! I was on the point of sending money to someone for some hair straightners, never even suspecting him, before I realised that he'd been suspended! I consider myself fairly shrewd, even if I asked for help about the previous scams at least I spotted them!
Bottom line when selling, only accept the high bidder and make it clear that you won't take a credit card and that you're only going to ship when you're happy with the payment, no bouncing cheques etc.
If you do get scammed, remember to submit for final value fee credit, and free re-advertisement. This is all done through my-ebay. With a bit of common sense and patience you'll be fine!
If you accept paypal and the person is out of the country only ever accept paypal payments from existing funds in te paypal account it was sent from. If they pay by credit card through paypal tell the buyer that you will not accept it due to fraud.
Always try and get the money in your bank account first and then deal with the person. I sold my 6600 to a guy in france and I would only send FedEx when he wanted another carrier, I was insistant on how it was going to be done and how he had to pay, it all went off without a hitch, but you have to be careful, VERY careful.

Please do not message me about Scan Free shipping, I no longer work for HEXUS.net
Singapore = Potential scam
Paypal - Possible scam
Credit card - Alarm bells ringing
Just make sure you have the CLEARED payment in YOUR bank first mate. This is coming from someone who has learned the hard way
Let us know how it pans out.
Remember Paypal use charge back, ie if the payment is a fraud they'll claw the money back from you.
I think nochex don't charge back.
Don't do Western Union.
re: ebay
theres yet another ebay scam email going round asking you for your ebay account name and password, along with your email address and password. It actually looks fairly genuine, e.g. no spelling mistakes. Don't fall for it. My other half did and she's usually pretty good. Fortuantely, the moment she clicked on 'submit' she went and changed her passwords as her brain re-enagaged

Ok Just to update you.
Today I had a phone call from the guy that im selling to, he told me he has paypal'd the money over to me. So i check and there it is - but when I go and accept it, it tells me i need to upgrade to a business account because he is paying by credit card. So i accidentally refused it by saying no i didnt wanna upgrade (didnt read it all tbh ). I then rung him back and asked him to do it again, which he said he would do. Now after reading this you are telling me this could be dodgey??
I have spoken to the guy several times today, he is meant to be paypalling it then collecting the fone from my house tonight. After speaking to a friend who uses ebay a lot, he says that once I have accepted the money through paypal, that is it, the money is mine. So he said he doesnt see any problem with him coming to pick the phone up tonight as long I accept the money through paypal first. Also, I emailed one of the guys that sold another phone to him and he said he was a reliable/authentic bidder.
Im in two minds what to do - he has just called me now telling me that he has sent the second attempt to send me money through...
EEK!
oh, ok then nevermind, i did upgrade to business account for the hell of it before writing this message out and now it has automatically accepted his payment, so i guess i dont get any kind of choice.
check if paypal to see if it's covered by

Can anyone answer if you're covered for handing over the goods face to face? Paypal seems to refer to postal methods to be covered.
One last thing you could do is refund his payment and ask him for cash....
