    Comments on the opening ceremony...

Seriously impressed so far! I don't know what I was expecting but I think I had set myself up for a disappointment.

I might just be getting tired but after the industrial revolution and the queens entrance I feel as though it's all getting a bit sketchy...

I think it is very well done. Felt quite moved when the Union Flag was marched in.

A very clever juxtaposition of celebration and serious moments.

Really enjoyed the rise of Industry, 007 meeting the queen, Mr Bean and the raising of the flag.

Favorite bit was the British music scene starting with The Jam - Going Underground and finishing with the man behind the WWW and the message "This is for Everyone"

It has been a great opening ceremony, definitely done us proud

The music medley was fab - cranked the volume right up for that one.

Nice but £27 million worth of nice?
Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?

It's good, but I could do without the inane commentary

The bid and planning started long before the recession, had we known what was coming I expect the budget may have been adjusted somewhat.

Re: Comments on the opening ceremony...

I want to see more of the 'rise of industry' type spectacle; it blew me away. The music and nod to the NHS etc was fun but I wasn't wowed by it.

On another note, good on the Queen for having a sense of humour!

Yep, I'd say so. These things are not cheap to do. Don't forget the audience is over 1 billion people - 2.7p per person is great value

Also, I don't recall other opening ceremonies having cut away to pre-recorded bits as much as ours has, I did think it was well done for the entrance of the Queen but aside from that I felt like it was over done. Has anyone else noticed this or am I just imagining it?

Sung at every FA cup final since 1926

You could say the same about "Guide me O Thou Great Redeemer"

I guess the cut aways are shown on displays in the stadium.

Good to see Sir Tim B-L get a central spot

I don't doubt that that they were shown on displays in the stadium, I just thought that in places they were over used and detracted from the live performance instead of enhancing it.

Agreed! It's an ideal platform to recognise the contribution that has benefited so many.

Now that the Olympians are entering the Stadium are we just waiting on the torch and then it's all over or do you think we can expect something more from the performers?
