Just be careful though running servers. Apparently some unis/IT people are very fussy about people running servers, and generally are nasty about it. Just read the small print first and check your ok to run servers from your room.

Yeh well you're only allowed one computer per connection. I would never use kazaa anyway so that doesn't bother me. I'm sure i'll get by, as long as i have an internet connection. I'll just make sure i've got plenty of single player games to keep me busy. I'll probably be doing more work than anything.

best of luck getting used to the bright lights and the moving mechanical wonders on the roads
bb to u is what ? Dial-up ?
Some halls are pretty good about it. My current net connection is CRAP though. Out of here in a few days and straight to megabit
This Student Village in Aberdeen net con has this mad firewall, most games work, and the techies always open the weird game ports I used when slightly prodded with my email stick. Great ping in games too It is pretty slow for d/l though...30 down. NOTHING up though.. like 7 I think. but only £175 for a whole year. Not a total rip off... but always on etc..
Oh.. and the mac address registration thingy annoyed me. I have 2 computers.. and wanted to install gentoo on the non-internet one. But sod registering a mac address for 2 days. <- I have no router.
Best of luck with the course
can i just say kezzer, on a light hearted note, you live in a tax free zone, then move to england as a tax dodger only kiddin
Heh, i won't be used to the tax. When i last went to england your petrol costs like 80p per litre and over here it's half the price and we thought petrol costed a lot over here!
I still will be able to avoid tax if i pay for things over the internet 'cause i'm still officially a guernsey resident temporarily in england.
killGORE it's one MAC addy per connection but i'm going to ask the techies if i can use 2 computers since one is command line based and i won't be able to do anything on it. It kind of acts like a router but it's more there for the firewall. We'll see anyway.
4 weeks 1 day to go \o/
