I have a few questions about them…

Ok Chavs where did they all come from?
Why are there so many of them?
Why were there none when I was a kid? Or were there?
Do they know they are a Chav?
Do they like being a Chav?
If you called one a Chav would he/she be honoured or offended?
How do you become a Chav?

7 - Wear lots of fake burburry, spit a lot, swear a lot, put on a fake deep voice to make you appear older than you are, hang around a park drinking carling and diamond white and nick peoples cars...

there seems to be difference in the usage of the word 'chav' north of the border,

im originally from near london and moved to scotland when i went to uni

i think the best way to describe this is with a table
YTD = young tracksuited drinker, no brain, likes park benches and stealing
DTF = Drives Too Fast, likes his cars, hangs round in McDonalds car park with other DTFs

Does this appear to be correct as i never heard the term Chav before uni, this may be that i went to a very YTD school so it never came up, or i walk around with my eyes and ears closed (more likely)

me too technokitty although i never got a car or learned to drive so i never became a proper chav

Originally we called the tracksuiters "Sully's". Sully was the epitome of Chav at the time and he was an Ikon for Fruit of the Loom (precursor to burbury) wannabe's to look to. Imagine Wayne Rooney multiplied by millions, with a lot more phlem and far too much cheek...

Car modders were different. The modding Nova drivers were called by their technical name "rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish" and the proper modders who actually built up a decent look to good cars were called friends mostly...

Well, when i was in uni at liverpool, chavs (as i understand them) were called Scallies, and were around for a few years before i saw chavs appearing in other cities. They suffer from the pack mentality thing though, they will give you abuse if they outnumber you, but if you outnumber or equal their numbers, you're largely safe!

95% of the people ive encountered who have looked like your stereotypical chav have been utter ****s, but you do get a few alright ones. Books and covers and all that

Also I've noticed recent chavs smell. They still look grubby but they now stink... Is it me?

no mate, they f***ing stink, they get on my bus trying to be half fare (under 15) but i just dont let them on, i show them the "NO DOGS ALLOWED" sticker

your right, degrading to homosexuals, you cant actually call them anything other than chavs, without insulting them
