    Nitro R/C Cars

    Hello all,

Anyone on here got a Nitro R/C car? What are they like? do you just go out for a bashin on your own or do you go out and about with ya mates trying to get the biggest 'air'?

I'm looking to get into it, but need advice on what to get... anyone selling one??

I've heard the Savage 25 is a beast of a truck... .25 engine and looks immense... whats your opinion on it?

A cheaper option is the Rush Evo 2... £200 RTR... only a .15 engine, is it any good?

Buggy wise, I've been looking at the Ha Bao Hyper 7 Sport... that any good?

    All opinions appreciated!

A mate has one (not sure which), and he says the fuel can be very pricey. Might be worth checking out first.

Sorry, above this I know sweet Fanny Adams about nitro. But I want one too, one day

I had an RS Pro4 or something - it was great, very fast but expensive if you crash it.

I would have only replaced it with an HPI savage

Yeh, they look immense... ride so high! And look so fierce!

I've seen the Schumacher Menace 21, which hits ~70mph...

0-60 in 1.9 seconds... yes 1.9 seconds...! But apparently it's quite 'weak' in build quality.

    Crazy..

I sold mine due to spending 50 quid + hours rebuilding the front end most of the time I took it out.

really it depends what you want the car for. I race a few different class i.c cars in world and european championships so I have a good idea what the score is as far as build quality and how fast etc.

One thing you ahve to consider is that they arent toys and just to keep them running, let alone well need a lot of looking after.

The savage .25 has a 3.5cc engine with a 2 speed gearbox, but to be honest the top gear doesnt really seem to do a lot. Because by the time you get the car wound up enough to get benefit of that gear the car will be long gone over the hoizon! Would prefeer to rev the car higher in the lower gear instead! The engine also because it is bigger than the .15 is a bit harder to set because there is more adjustments available.

As far as handling goes, it has a high centre of gravity and if you turn carrying a lot of speed it does roll! So its a car that I wouldnt reccomend for a first car so to speak.

If you are going to buy a car made by HPI, I would go for one with a higher specification becasue cheaper base models (like obes sold in Halfords where I work) are tend to niggly breakages which arent seriuos but none the less annoying!

    Have you looked at these manufacturers;
    Serpent
    Thunder Tigre
    Kyosho
    Yokomo
    Mugen

    Hope that helps

22.5% ontop of something costing 230 would be about 280 quid, after shipping, hopefully about 300 your looking at

Thats a big help cheers, you sound experienced in R/C cars!

I'm not stuck to a particular brand or make, just something I can bash about in a field and do a load of jumps on

I can see what you mean about the turning though, it is very tall!

What other cars would or should I be looking at? Something similar to the Savage?
