Far Left wanting a second ref for whatever reason and usually using lines like lies during campaigns to leave as an example.

Far Right then going it's undemocratic to hold a second vote.

They are as bad as each other.

Then you have the folk in the middle much like Zak and myself and others here who accepted the outcome, fair enough I am not happy with it but what the hell.

So you cannot put all those who chose remain in the same place as far left much like the racists etc that are associated with the far right.

I personally think another ref is needed not because we lost but because of the current mess we are in that the tories have created over the last few years and no one from any party actually agreeing on anything. Put it out to a public vote where we can choose what direction we want before we as a country implode.
Thanks for clarifying. If I may I'd like to clarify my own point, I wasn't suggesting that all remain voters want a do over but that the clamour for a second referendum isn't coming from disillusioned leave voters, it's coming, for the most part, from dismayed remain voters.

    Re: Boris is Boss

That's the whole thing, it is all getting blown way out of proportion by newspapers scaremongering and stirring things up into a frenzy and equal amounts of social media where the keyboard warriors thrive!

A problem is that reasonable argument and discussion is getting harder and harder down to far right and far left propaganda being shoved upon us and watching that prat Johnson doing everything he can to drive us head first into a brick wall that happens to be on a cliff face, it is getting out and out frustrating for both sides.

So the reasonable normal (as normal as I can be I might add!!) folk in the middle like ourselves and other members on the board get dragged into the middle of all the petty stuff which isn't helping our country at all and it cause arguments

    Re: Boris is Boss

The clear will of the people is to leave.
I suppose that if by "clear" it means within the margin that Mr. Brexit Farage claimed to be "unfinished business" and "is" being "was almost 3.5 years ago", then I suppose that statement is correct.

But here's the thing, if you truly, and I mean truly believe that it was and still *is* the *clear* will of the people, then surely there is nothing to worry about. If you are the good gentleman, you would do the country a great service by proving to those who hope that the table might have changed weren't correct, and having lost twice in a row, it's really time to move on.

And if you are more the vindictive kind, you'll get the satisfaction of watching all the people who didn't want to roll over, get rolled over a second time. It's a win, win, win situation for you.

...if the statement is still accurate.

The arguments for a second referendum are far more nuanced than being dismayed remain voters.

First of all, the UK is becoming more pro-EU in the coming years. Therefore the support for Brexit is dying out.

Secondly, each younger generation is less racist than the last. The Brexiters fought a campaign mainly using racism.

Thirdly, younger people are more likely to socialise more with their counterparts in Europe than the older generation.

The sort of people who voted for Brexit were mainly racist, UKIP followers, social outcasts, Telegraph/Daily Mail readers, semi-illiterates, etc. Hardly credible, is it now?

Moving on, there was a huge majority in the Referendum prior to joining the EU in 1975. In this 2016 Referendum, Brexiters only managed a tiny majority due to young people lazy to vote, 16/17 years olds excluded from voting, poor weather in London, ex-pats not receiving their proxy papers.

TLDR: Brexit has a credibility issue which won't go away.

    Re: Boris is Boss

    Hello people.

I started this thread, and it's turned into an education in (and of) itself

Everyone has their own opinion, as well as a bum hole, and like bum holes, they often stink.

You don't have to debate this - you can walk off and leave it
You don't have to agree - you can debate
You don't have to WIN - you can just learn from it

Now, you'll all be interested to note that it's now causing debate between the Mod/Admin team who I would consider the best at their jobs in the world. People who have done this job, voluntarily, no pay of any sort for longer than I'd care to ponder.

I'm firmly of the opinion that you lot should be left to tear each other to shreds and kick the crap out of each other verbally.
But not all my colleagues agree, and here's the rub....

We're all correct, cos you lot are all different people too, with different mental capacity for different levels of typing conflict.

It's been closed more times that the Brexit Ministers have been dumped
It's been re-opened more times than my flies on a long night on the beer

What does each of you think should happen?

    KEEP IT OPEN?
    or
    CLOSE IT?

    Re: Boris is Boss

Maybe we should hold a vote then discuss it for 3+ years with everyone !!!!

Leave it open and let everyone duke it out, a healthy debate with some banter and craic thrown in has never done anyone any harm really has it.

    Re: Boris is Boss

Question: will it be a straightforward binary vote with plenty of context, or will we be denied much needed information vis a vis the possible ramifications of voting one way or the other?

    Again.

I suggest we keep the thread open as Boris is still boss and Brexit continues as the main talking point through out people's lives.

I have no idea why the thread was closed in the first place for a review.

As for my own bum hole, I do have a healthy diet and can re-assure it doesn't smell the slightest.

"I'm firmly of the opinion that you lot should be left to tear each other to shreds and kick the crap out of each other verbally."

I like this approach. However, the opposite approach, I feel, is used to stifle debate if it doesn't fit in their own political beliefs.

If you close the "debate" here it will only pop up somewhere else.

Besides, only the ECJ truly has the power to close the thread
