I hated him - and I mean that as a compliment - the number of times we've seen him thread his way through a rushing defence and embarrass the opposition.

Writer & historian Jan Morris (November 20th) https://www.theguardian.com/books/20...orris-obituary - a long & interesting life (including being the only journalist to accompany Hillary and Norgay on the 1953 Everest ascent, for those of you interested in such things).

Diego Maradonna has died of a heart attack aged 60. So yeah we all know who this guy is and his hand that put the ball in the net Mexico 86.... He was a legend though regardless

Just seen this. Not that I care two hoots about football, but still, that was a bit of a shock. The report I read implied that his ongoing health problems might have had at least an element of linkage to alcohol abuse. Yet another example, perhaps, of how both fame and even money can be a double-edged sword.
Sad loss, despite the Hand of God.
A lesson learned from PeterB about dignity in adversity, so Peter, In Memorium, "Onwards and Upwards".
Sorry for the ones who loved him but... he was a domestic abuser, into organised crime and beatings, shot people with air rifles (that we know of) public drug abuser, drugs cheat and outright cheat.
Terrible role model, with no morals at all by the looks of it. Won't be missed just becuase he was one of the best ever at kicking a ball up and down a field.
But having said that hope he learns some lessons for the next life.
