What does it matter now if men believe or no?
What is to come will come. And soon you too will stand aside,
To murmur in pity that my words were true

This was from last year, October 11th, but I only found out today on a youtube channel I was browsing. Robert Forster - I know him from Jackie Brown mainly: https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-50025723
...but also just found out in IMDB that he played the bad guy, Abdul, in a film I used to watch as a kid a lot, The Delta Force (1986). Wow, I did not know that was him! I'd have never guessed that.

That one is kind of a shock. While, aged 96, it shouldn't be, my view of the world just kinda wobbled. I mean, I'm no youngster, but Nicholas was on stage, screen and radio before I was born. Many years before.
It's not like I was a huge fan. I didn't much like Sale of the Century, but I did listen to Just A Minute frequently, though not regularly.
He was a bit like gravity, or air; not something you're consciously aware of all the time, but you just take for granted that they're there.
Giles Brandreth put it well .... as you would expect. He said, and I'm paraphrasing a tad, not quoting verbatim
"I jyst assumed he was immortal, as he was always there. It's a shock to find he wasn't."
It's as if I were standing on a rock, something you understand implicitly (or think you do), when it open's it's eyes and looks at you. The world as you thought you knew it just wobbled. Became less certain.
RIP Nicholas, and sympathies to friends and family. And thanks for all the decades of professionalism and dedication.
A lesson learned from PeterB about dignity in adversity, so Peter, In Memorium, "Onwards and Upwards".
So use to them just being "there" you don't notice the passage of time
