Okay, theoretically there were other choices. In pragmatic terms, here, not so.

Three candidates on the ballot, one of which struggles to avoid losing the deposit.

Protest votes, spoiled ballots, not-voting are all very well but all amounts to, first, a wstte of time, and second, a marginal increase in the chances of ending up with what in my opinion would have been a monumental electoral disaster.

    So I had a binary choice - vote against something I really didn't want .... or don't.

    Re: Coronavirus

*face palm* It isn't just politics people voted for parties who represented different ideals. The people who voted tory voted for austerity on the other hand corbyn's labour constantly called out the tories for the crap they pulled.

I'm guessing it's a mystery to some that germany while having a larger population has a fraction of our deaths. If their population voted for a gov like the tories they would be doing as bad in dealing with corona. This is simple cause and effect but it feels like people have been brainwashed into thinking jeremy corbyn is the villain despite all evidence pointing to the contrary.

    Re: Coronavirus

This country is becoming more and more like the US everyday. When Trump effs up,its Obama's fault, and when Obama effed up it's George Bush Junior's fault. Whenever the Republicans are in power, its the Democrats fault, and when the Democrats are in power its the Republicans fault.

No wonder this country is going the way it is - instead of upholding the current lot in power at any one time to their mistakes,it's about kicking the bucket down the line elsewhere. This is why the parties, don't ever learn, don't ever apologise, and just do what they want. People will just fall on their sword for them. None of them really want electoral reform as they can't stand the thought of the duality ending. This applies to both the main parties.

Their voters need to hold their respective parties to a higher level, and the government in power at any one time to a higher level. If not as politicians do worldwide, they will make sure their own mates do well, and use flowery talk to just deflect irrespective of who suffers, and that will be you and me,and everyone around you.

Also regarding the current crisis, some of you are moaning about the lockdown - well if the last few governments had listened to the 2016 and 2019 advice, and prepared,we would have had a milder lockdown. The UK has some of the best biomedical experts and scientists in the whole world - yet they consistently get ignored until the very end, which by then its too late.

Even as some who work for the NHS who post on this forum say, even at the best of time they are struggling for ICU beds,PPE,etc. The fact that 20 years of UK governments can afford foreign jaunts, and "stockpile" weapons for these jaunts for decades, which mostly don't get used in the actual defence of this country,is telling. Things like paper masks, gloves, etc are not expensive items. Busy worrying about hypothetical enemies abroad in other superpowers, but ignoring the fact more people will die from crime, terrorism, poverty and disease.

    Edit!!

Also regarding voting for the Tories,I can understand why people voted for them,as Labour were a total balls up,and they managed to make the conservative's own 2016/2017 implosion a sign of unity. The Tories looked the party of the two which seemed to be able to actually form a functional government. The parties in the UK will rarely want to work together, and even then we only had one coalition government in 75 years, and the last one everyone was pointing fingers at.

What you don't understand is how everyone doesn't agree with your views on everything. In your mind that makes them stupid and wrong. Anyone that sees Jeremy Corbyn as anything other than perfect is simply wrong. I also suspect that you don't understand how there are many shades of grey and that not everything is simply black and white.

You are also incapable of seeing your own huge bias.
You clearly believe that anything that doesn't fit into your narrative is wrong, lies or a combination of the two.

    Or you are just trolling.

Whatever it is, engaging in intelligent debate isn't possible with someone with such a mindset.

    Re: Coronavirus

Well it could have been worse,at least Bojo and Corbyn was probably a better choice than Trump and Hilary!! Not even the current choice as really improved either!!

How does it make me bias that I want a different party in power when the tories continually show massive disregard for human life? How many scanadals have they had? fite for work, grenfell and now this and people who vote for the right go "it's bad but can you imagine what damage labour would do?" Its complete bs.

You might like to considet that in the light of the fact that the electorate. most of whom have minimal interest in politics, handed JC's version of Labour a monumental drubbing of record-setting proportions.

That's true if you ignore the 10+ million people who voted labour and how close they were in 2017. Not to mention how media bias ramped up during that time and what was revealed in the labour leaks....It's crazy that britain has the worst death rate in the world etc and people are still in denial about how maybe the people in government are responsible.

Up against a wishy washy current prime minister whose manifesto was an attack against the young, the elderly, the sick and even cute fluffy foxes there was no way any competent Labour leader could lose.

The only way that Corbyn unites people is in wanting to keep him out of any position of power, and I just don't understand how Labour couldn't read that mood in the country years ago and get rid of him.
