    Career Advice Please

I finished my national diploma last year and now I'm unsure what to do exactly. People say go to university, or go start work.

I want to go into Networking/Consultancy. What's the best way of starting a career in this? My local college which does a foundation degree is ok, but its completely full of chavs, which meant i didn't entirely enjoy my national diploma. The course was fine, it was just the college. I've been thinking of doing CS, but I tried it at Bath Uni and I didn't enjoy it. I've been considering going to Kingston University which is a local one but people say its not very good.

    What to do..

Any advice, discussions would help alot thanks.

If you want to do networking/consultancy and assuming by CS you mean Computer Science then you wouldn't want to do Computer Science as it's not networking specific. Imo, go to a completely different uni, somewhere far away from home as that's where the experience is I've been to Kingston, stayed there for a weekend the other week, wasn't a bad place really but the Uni isn't so great as reported by quite a few mates i have there

Bear in mind that your work experience is just as, if not more important than the number of qualifications you have on your CV. Not many people will be after a consultant thats fresh from uni and has no experience.

i think it is worth it, as you get a year in industry and can make the contacts and refrences which might help you when you graduate, if you didnt do this then you might not know what to look for when you graduate.
