    I got mine off www.ukreg.com, it cost me £6 for two years I believe. All mine does is fowards to my mates server, Im way to cheap to pay for hosting lol

    Do you acturaly own the dommian with deals like that, or if you stop paying do they take it away?

    yeah you own the domain for the time period and then you have the option to register it again or it is put back on the market.

    I think that you own it for two years (or for how long you bought it for), and if you do not renew it after two years anyone could have it.

    I still dont quite get domains, who actually has the right to sell a domain?

    How do they originally own it?

    I assume when you pay for a domain you are really paying the company to update DNS servers to point the domain to your hosting. What to stop you cutting out the domain company and telling the DNS servers yourself where the domain should point to.

    Or am I missing the point?
