Unhappy Had a nightmare last night

Woke up very distressed this morning as I couldn't distinguish between dream and reality!

I dreamt that I got my first bill for my contract phone, and it was £400!! Then woke up, found the bill on the floor, and it was £500! Woke up again and I realised I didnt have enough money for my holiday because of my stupid phone bill.....

Then I ACTUALLY woke up, checked I had no post and have sat here paranoid for most of the day.

Could be something to do with the fact I was sold the WORST deal on my phone. Admittedly, I was naive and trusted a friend on his judgement of phones. Big mistake. Didn't realise I was getting a bad deal until it was too late .

I used to rate o2 as well, but it turns out their customer service is terrible, have phoned at least 7 times (50p a min!) in the last 3 weeks , to hear the same thing every time. "Try again tomorrow, it should work then" (my picture messaging doesn't work, neither does my online phone bill viewing)

I will draft up letter of complaint, but I'm not feeling confident that something will be done Can't believe I'm stuck with this contract for a year .

Anyone else have similair problems with o2?

When did you sign up, because as far as I know, you legally have some sort of length of time to sign out of the deal.

and if you have tried all reasonable ways of contacting them then I should get hold of ofcom (thats right isn't it? the ones who regulate networks) explain to them the situation and see what they can do.

Have you tried going into an O2 store to see if they can sort it out for you?

i'm sure if some stuff isn't working, that invalidates the contract as they are not performing as they said they would.

I'm gonna try and visit the o2 shop at the weekend, I might take someone with me to make sure that I don't back down! I got the contract on bank holiday monday, think the "return" time ran out 14 days after purchase!.

Unfortunately it actually took nearly a week for my text to activate and for my number to transfer over (was on pay as u go, kept my number) so I just presumed these these things "took time" and by the time I realised the service was pants, it had passed 14 days .

Have been reading through the contract, it looks like they've thought it through enough to not slip up with these things. Oh well, a valuable lesson learnt from this experience...do your research first !

    Thanks for your advice everyone

People not being able to set up their MMS is a common thing. Staff are usually less than helpful. What kind of phone have you got?

As far as your dream goes....I can't imagine why blokes think all women are gobby

It's a Samsung E720, pretty useless to me as it has an MP3 player and a cool camera on it. I already have a top notch digital camera and an MP3 player (Yes it was an impulse/pressure decision! )

I might have had that dream because one of my friends actually did run up a £400 phone bill and got cut off

get them to change your tarriff

change it to the lowest, online 50, you get 500free txts and 50xnet mins everymonth for £20. My bill is never more than that. ring this number instead - 0870 600 3009

its charged at national raet, so ring from a land line and its super cheap, and dont let them cut you off, get everyones name you speak to if they try and pass you on.

    hope this helps

    Thanks Russ

Only I don't think it can be changed for 6 months that seems like a good tariff for me though ! And I'll try that number if I get no luck at the shop at the weekend

Yeah you cant change it for six months. The samsungs are a pain in the ass to set up for MMS, but it can be done, you just have to put the settings in manually. I can give you the settings if you think you can enter them in (not difficult, just not very interesting).

If they give you a 14 day guarantee they often run from the date that your number ports over, not the date you sign the contract. And if the phone's less than 28 days old I'd just suggest that it's faulty and ask them to swap it for another model, which you're perfectly within your rights to do, even if you can't cancel the actual airtime agreement.

It's not super cheap, 0870 numbers are 7-9p a minute- cheaper than 50p I suppose, but still a bloody ripoff, calling their customer services should be free IMO. Anyway, ring from work.

Cat, if the phone still doesn't work as advertised, then you'd have a very good case for rejecting it as being unsuitable for the purpose it was sold for. If you want out of the contract, then just tell them you intend to send it back for that reason- if they tell you it'll be fixed soon say that's not good enough and demand a better contract deal as compensation or something. Play hardball with them- if they tried to take you to court to force you to keep your side of the contract they'd get laughed at since they very clearly haven't kept their side, your phone still doesn't work properly two weeks after you got it and that's just not good enough.

I have the settings. You mean when they send u a mesage and u have to press "install" and a pin? Yep, didn't work, o2 sent me the Samsung settings too, none of which worked I can't wait for them to start patronising me in the shop tomorrow

It all depends on what shop u bought ur phone from. i recommend buyin it from an actually dealer, eg O2, T-Mobile, Voda shop, that way all the network settings are already on the phones and u wont have 2 try find them urself. phones 4 u and carphoneware house phones dont have the network settings on them.

Ps. I work 4 O2 dats how i know this

    Hope this helps any1
