I feel REALLY sorry for the Londoners if we get it, although over all it might be a good thing as long as it persuades the Government (whomever it is at the time) to sort the transport system out.
Paris's bid is really strong though. They have the infrastructure already in place and they have almost 90+% support in the polls.

As a Londoner I don't particularly want it coming out of my council tax for the next 30 years, but now I want us to win just to p1ss off Chirac.
If we get the Olympics, it will be like the Millennium Dome on a grander scale. The Dome was supposed to bring massive regeneration benefits. Instead it's cost us over £30million in maintenance fees + sale costs since it closed.
The Olympics in London would be one hell of an experience. But I think the promises of associated benefits are outright lies.
Regeneration is the new charidee.
