    I require some assistance...

    Yeap...

I need a little help from you lovely folks @ Hexus, inparticular the ones that like the "alternative" music scene.

Basically - as you may well know, I help my friend DJ on a Friday night and its getting hard to find the time to research new metal, rock, indie, emo, punk bands when your busy with work, CS and now WoW.

So - What new bands are pretty good, and whats songs are good that they've done ?

Once I have a comprehensive list I'll grab a few CD's from CDWOW

    Thanks in advance...

Yes I prefer vinyl - always have done but for practical reasons the clubs got some nice, but not perfect CD-DJ systems.

Oh and I don't think my vinyl collection would go down a treat with the crowd thats usually in on a Friday, unless they happen to like House Music from the 1990's when it was GREAT

Agreed - some of the late 80's-early 90's House music was pretty decent.

Have you checked out Lacuna Coil they are Italian Rock... similar to Evanescence but better IMHO

If it's dance then you need Crystal Method

Either that or i'll suggest HIM and no-one seems to like them much on here

    In general anything new/old.

We have the major stuff like my chemical romance, spunge, SOAD, AC DC that sort of general but more less popular names would be ideal.

    Euro-metal is always good
    eg:
    Lacuna Coil
    Nightwish
    Sonata Arctica
    Dragonland

but thats getting a bit unconventional

popular Emo atm seems to be bands like:

    Jimmy eat world
    Funeral for a friend
My Chemical Romance (urgh dont buy their CDs PLEASE )
    Death Cab For Cutie
Depache Mode (bleh cant spell their name but you will be able to find them)

indie i'm not going to help you with, but it doesnt really matter as its all the same cr@p anyway

Take a look at www.roomthirteen.com for many other ideas, plenty of current 'alt-rock'/metal bands on there
