There's two version of broadband that plusnet do.

The cheaper one reduces all non standard traffic (i.e. P2P) the more expensive one doesn't.

U get what you pay for.,

If there is a phoneline there already BT can normally connect it by 6pm the same day, ADSL takes 7-10 days.

    Just get Freeview

And like you said, freeview for TV so zero dollars there. Phone is BT plus homecall, works out to be another 15/month so all told around 40/month for phone/tv/internet in this student house.

indeed, i find it so funny how you get people been loyal to companies like homecall/talk talk.

me i go for what evers cheapest + best service.

Theres another firm like that, can't think of the name, i've designed an autodialer for it, that will cost about £8 to make, not had chance to test it yet, oh and i think it would be illegal to use on a bt network, so it would be for educational purposes only.... and i'd have no liability for the design working. But anyway, it will autodial the prefix. 3p a min for mobiles at weekend is an absolute bargin... hmm i'm seriously thinking of doing something naughty making my firewall box run it for me, have a deamon, tell me how much each call cost after they've hung up..... but anyway, way of topic.

There are more people like these guys, there are also some very cheap voice over IP deals been done by this same firm's sister company, these are worth looking at, but i dislike having to have bandwidth free to allow incomming call (tends to invole QoS settings, and other such complications, when at present to get my ADSL i have to pay £10.50 for a line anyway).

Another money saving thing to note is, homecall, goto a phones 4 u shop, and look at a dect phone, then say oh this homecall looks good, then be like, hmm, thats a good dect phone, but i'm a bit short this month, and haggle, they can nock the price down by £50 on most of them. I got offered a job when doing this for my grandfarther by the manager of the store, end result was 2 dect phones suitable for deaf people + awnser phone, at over £60 off the RPP, but that was because he wanted me to work for him

Your not obliged to be with homecall, but its worth having them as ur line rental people, because you will save 50pence a month, and they do give you a nice srubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishy phone at cheap price.

Avoid NTL or any of its re-encarnations. BT line, means that you can bill through someone else as PSP, or rent the line via someone else (BT Wholesale), ADSL with anyone (easynet LLU style), and dial with cheap people like above. Oh and you can get a sky+ discount package if there enough of u to be able to afford it. But that courses more fights than anything else.
