Google Maps - Just made my day :)

It's not everyday your blown away by a website but corrr I thought it was good and remembered that my friend who moved on Saturday said he's moved to Milton Keynes near a Pizzahut.

I knew the area had a west in it, and a quick type into google maps of "Milton Keynes Pizzahut" gave me his street name, Area, postal code the lot

So... if any of you lot from MK are in the westcroft area near Pizzahut and hear a Mancunian Accent from a tall blonde fella, go ask if its Alisdair and say Hi for me ... that would really scare him

Anyway - I rang to ask if it was his postcode which he said "yes... how the <explicit removed> did you know"...

Google maps... is there anything it doesn't do ?

No, I do think it can find anything. I even asked it where my keys where.

Personally, while Gmaps is very usful, i don't rate it as highly as most people seem to. It's just that i live in the country now and prefer OS maps that has much better detail. Great for citys though for sure.

BTW, anyone with a java enabled phone (virtually everyone) should point it to http://wap.mgmaps.com. This will install a nice little java Gmaps reader app (still in beta i think). A little slow over GPRS, but still very handy and better than what i expected. Even lets you switch between maps a satalite images. Gmaps on the go, nice

I remember when i discovered Multimap and was amazed. THen when i saw the way Gmaps is displayed i almost fell over. Yes the functionality is great, the searching is fantastic, but the interface and just the look of it does it for me.

    sad i know....

Google maps is handy for road directions, but if it's walking etc. you're after, you just can't beat OS maps. They're pretty much the best in the world
