thats a bit of a beast innit ?

I take it you are not part of a smaller operation ?

I remeber we tries to get CRM working with our Actionpack version on SBS2003 - very unsucessfully I might add.

I've seen ACT! used as call logging software before !

The current version of MS CRM is a huge improvement over the first release. If you work with .net developers the improvements you get imported in are immense.

MS CRM will really start to kill sage over the next few years in my opinion. Its just a matter of time and easy of use/install to improve. But feature wise it will start to decimate sage with direct .net support.

I suppose when you start to bring sharepoint into the mix for an associated knowledge base ( adn the search functionality ) then you are laughing ( especially if you have a good dev team with you )

Not that big at all - Certified Partner, 20 man company, but we migrated from ACT as well (Thank god!)

Next step is Sage integration and thats when we will see some real time savings - at the moment its all about sharing information between sales (me and my crew) and technical which is great, but we've still got a lot of duplicated processes throughout the business.

I'll let you know how it goes!

Just noticed your comments TiG, and CRM has deinfitely improved over the first release. I think the major bugbears that we have with it are that it is not really a M$ application as yet. While it "integrates" with Outlook, it lacks an awful lot of functionality that you take for granted in other M$ applications.

For instance sending e-mails most of the formatting options disappear, so you have no idea how it will look when it reaches a customer. If you have an opportunity that is nearing estimated close date, it doesn't warn you, if you have an activity that is due, there is no pop-up to alert you, ack... loads of stuff annoys me in all honesty.

I'm not too sure about CRM replacing Sage - didn't think it had the capability but then I'm no developer.

It is good, but it isn't there yet. Personally, I'm an SAP fan, which probably would have cost about the same to deploy!

What do you need all that fancy stuff for. At OCuk they get by using letter stamps carved out of potatoes. You know, like you did at play school and stuff.

oh! i thought they were only at 1.2. We want to get CRM at work, but can't justify the cost right now, next year perhaps, which is maybe a good thing if there is a newer more mature version in the pipeline

Apparently they skipped version 2 as it was taking too long and went straight to 3.

As long as it works I don't care what number comes after it!

Gotta love it when ya stick an MS-Hotfix on a coupla pre-release servers and its fine, then when you do the full release on a couple of hundred everything ****s up! Damn I love M$!
