    Travelling into London

Going to need to get into London on the 14/12 for a concert, and then will want to be leaving that same evening. The concert is at Earls Court and I was wondering what everyone would advise for travelling in and out?

Coming via M1 south as will be travelling down from Nottingham/Derby.

Earls court has parking available near the venue, does anyone have any experience with this? Or are they any recommended car parks in that area people could suggest?

I am open to suggestions regards trains and stuff, but will need advice on the stations and approximate times I should be allowing.

Also, I know it will take about 2 hours to travel down to the City from Nottingham, but thats to the border. How much time should I be allowing to get myself into the City Centre? Will I have to pay that London road charge thing as well?

As always, any help much appreciated

I would advice against driving, parking will be a nightmare. Get the train. No idea about the times though

'Apparently' I can phone up and book a parking space at Earls Court. Going to check this tomorrow...any idea on best train routes?

Depends where you're going from (I doubt there's a station under your bed). Virgin and GNER are the better ones to get.

Hmm, I was born in Derby, moved to Earls Court and now live in Nottingham.
I wouldn't advise someone who didn't know how to get there to drive unless you really need to take loads of stuff - better off getting train to St Pancras/Kings Cross and then District Line (the green one) to Earls Court. The tube exit at Earls Court is directly opposite the exhibition building (as long as you come out the correct of the 2 sides).

That said, i do drive there still frequently but often park at a mates in Hangar Lane area - if you can get good parking then go for it, but just be really really prepared for those oh-so-fun '3 lanes merge into 1 and i've 2 buses racing me for it' times, of which there are many.

If you really really are determined to drive, then M1 -> North circular to west london / hangar lane area, then A40 (east) to Shepherds Bush. From there it's about a mile or so.

    look for virgins cheap singles!

Also when going to london (and i'm only 20 min away) i make it an excuse for a nice day out (if the gig finishes <midnight, then its off to fabric). Take train, get a travel card, bum round camden market (i've got this game call "i spy drug dealers" basically its a negative sterotype reinforcement game, you get multiplyers based on the seriousness of the drug, and the ethnenticity of the person offering it to you).

    Train, anyday...

Parking will be horrendously expensive, there's the congestion charge and the general hassle factor of traffic.

I always go to London (if I really have to) by train.
Train straight into Euston then jump on the tube to wherever I'm going.

    Coldplay?! Im going too!!

Will be getting the train - Luton Airport Parkway to Kings Cross/St Pancras and then the tube - its by far the easiest, stress free way to get to Earls Court.

We are going to see Embrace on the 15th too but will be driving for that one since it is at Alexandra Palace which is a nightmare to get to and 'im indoors has Sat Nav so will hopefully make the trip slightly more painless.

If you want to head into London with us you are more than welcome. There are 4 of us going down together at the moment. Just a thought - drop me a PM if you want to arrange something.
