Right everyone - need you all to read this please.

Im not going to mess around here, so its coming straight at you all.

Of late there have been a number of totally pointless threads that are just a complete waste of time. We need you to please only post things that are actually of value, and where possible please post singular threads and not start a thread for every concievable possibility.

Basically I need you to engage brain before fingers, we don't need you to post stuff just because you are bored, we don't need stupid things posted where you can easily find out the answers with a bit of effort. We want this to be a quality forum and not one where people have to trawl rubbish just to get to decent threads.

You are all very quick to jump on spammers on this board when they post something for thier own gain so please put the shoe on the other foot, if you can find out the answer or if you are just posting because you are bored then please do not do it on HEXUS.net, we are a quality website and we have a quality community, but you all need to make sure you maintain your highstanding.

In addition to this I also want to have a big effort from you all to make sure that when posting a thread you make the subject relevant, things like exclamation marks and 'lol' and 'ahem' are not subject lines that in anyway have a place here, lets get some quality back in to it all.

I am not picking on individuals here, on the whole we are pretty good at making this a quality place, but if things do not improve soon then the admins will take a much stronger stance and will also dish out warnings to people who are consisitently spamming the forums with junnk threads and posts.

Please do not hijack threads, make snide or stupid remarks in otherwise great threads, lets all be a part of this and work together to make HEXUs a good place to be.

We, at HEXUS.net are working tirelessly to make the main site an excellent, quality online publication but it requires you to do the same for the community.

Work with us, and work on the quality and then we can work on bringing more stuff you way in the future.

    Many thanks,

    Matt.

I shan't say I'm not one of the offenders - since I crawled out of the bargain bin I've posted some really random stuff - mainly because it seemed to fit around the posts that were around on hexus at the time.

I enjoy the banter and the articles that get posted about - but if it was decided to pull the plug on irrelevant threads on general discussion, I'd enjoy myself on digg just as much!

What consitutes a junk thread, so I can avoid it?

No, but seriously, great forums, and it's nice to see the staff working to keep it that way. I would just have a laugh at XA04's expense (without malice I might add), but probably get shouted at (am scared of admins, anyone else join me?).

I know recently there have been alot of usless threads around - but isnt this the whole point of having subforums etc - so the threads that are important and are use to people go to the right place and are seen by the right people? Thats how i see it any way.
GD - is full of junk and i admit ive helped fill it up some what i think more topical discussion would be be better, threads that interest people and get them talking.

Its always nice where some thing funny is posted and you can have a laugh once in a while and i quite enjoy the old photoshop threads i take it these kind of threads are okay then?

Btw - its prob not a great idea to start pointing fingers even if it obvious to you who's threads lack any quality or purpose.

"omg, MSN is down, is it down for anyone else?"

XA04 is blatantly a prime suspect

How's about a "links" section where people post links to other sites/pictures/news... that way the general discussion is kept to, erm, discussion?

Whether you define something as "junk" is a matter of opinion.

guys, its not a pointing finger opportunity. If it was we would do it, you don't need to.

And to some of those who have pointed the finger, well all I will says is you are too.

I have no problem with posting pics, and stuff thats funny, but posting it and telling everyone to do so by crap subject lines has to stop.

Lets get some quality in there peeps.

    Matt.

Although there has been a lot of crap recently, its been good crap. In fact GD is always the first place i look when going on the Hexus forums and its pretty much the only place I post in. I like crap meaningless converstions as they dont require large amount of brain thinking; They are also amusing and give me a little chuckle, after all thats what its all about. I salute you XA04, although i may well be your only fan lol.

Edit: I do however agree with the crap thread names. That's lame and wastes a whole click.

I agree there have been some pointless threads.... There should be a single "funny pictures" and "funny sites" thread where people post links and images that would otherwise have a thread made for their sole purpose.

    Also....

And oh yeah.... Admins.. Add an announcement at the top of each forum that says, in big red letters, No, MSN is not down.
