I've been wondering about the Download Ireland thing myself cover for a secret gig somewhere perhaps? GnR are rumored to be at d ownload this year though in their original line-up (don't think it'll ever happen though).
axel actually turning up to a gig???? don't think that will happen in my lifetime
Didn't he play reading in 2002?Originally Posted by Spud1
It might explain why the headline acts weren't announced as usual though, maybe they're still trying to convince GnR (in whatever line-up) to play.
With that hapenning a couple of days ago and alot of stuff about chinese democracy being leaked this last month maybe theres something in it?Legendary rock photographer Ross Halfin reckons that the classic Guns n' Roses line-up and Metallica will be performing at Download this year!
A recent posting on Halfin's website reads: "The original lineup [of Guns n' Roses] is supposed to play Download in June with their metal chums, Metallica , if Lars [Ulrich, Metallica's drummer] can be bothered to turn up." (UPDATE: Halfin has since removed the posting from his site.)
I don't think he did, last gig in the UK he played was about 7 years ago I think, and even then they were 2 hrs late on stage because 'Axel was having a shower'
Plus axel fired all the rest of the band last year, and he has a restraining order against slash.. Also where would they play? Unless they have moved the metal day to sat metallica already have their slot, and its unlikely they wouldn't be headlining..(not the right music for metal day, or indie day I don't think)
So I think theres almost zero chance of them playing
On the plus side, Deftones have now confirmed Best band to confirm yet imho

Oh, did I mention.....I like sheep.....
WWW.MrsBurley.CO.UK now updated
i'm going off the idea of download, i'm now sticking to infest in august
Korn, Placebo, Soil, Dragonforce, Bleeding Through, Still Remains and InFlames are all apparently self confirmed now.
Strong rumors for alter bridge to play again, and according to what I read Prodigy won't be headlining friday as alot of people thought so there are still 2 headline acts to be announced.
Shaping up pretty nicely, just need aerosmith or ac/dc to confirm now.......
Just out of interest - where did you hear that they have self confirmed? Can find nothing to say any of those have done so, although I think Korn will play this year..
Placebo are playing isle of white so I have doubts about them, not sure about the rest..
Dragonforce, Still Reamains and Bleeding Through have all said that they are booked to play download at recent gigs. Korn Placebo and InFlames were up on the bill on getlive's website last night but I can't find em there now, must've been taken down.
Does seem a bit too expensive, although I suppose Reading will be a lot more
