    Electricity

My uni accommodation is a 5 person flat in a block of about 20 flats just outside Belfast, the accommodation is off-campus but is owned by the University. On top of our rent we have to pay our own electricity via a pay-as-you-go meter.
Currently we are going through about £5 a day. Which is £100 a month (the flat is only used 5 days a week).

Anyone I've talked to says it is way tooo high, considering my mates electricity cost them £40 a quarter.

We complained a bit and aparently the problem has been sorted, however if it isnt sorted, any idea what we can do? also is they admit there was a problem does that mean we paid too much and are owed money?

Looks like you have paid way over the odds, I think you need to go back to the accomidation people and ask about a refund if they had set the machine incorrectly then they are at fault. ( My opion)

Charging extra for the electricity has been used to make rental agencies money for years. As far as i am aware there is no law against it. Its still a arsehole way of working though.
