ways to make your ears pop?

I used to get this with a cold. For me i couldnt get rid of it and just had to wait it out for a few days.

A mate at uni lost his hearing in one ear due to catching something that he wasnt vaccinated for

jeez my ears pop all the time i had this problem for well over 5 years now especially my right ear. becuase of all the loud trance/techno music i listen to on my headphones. i never even considered going to the doctors though. thanks to this thread i know its not as serious as i thought it was.

I had similar when my sinuses were infected. My hearing was affected in 1 ear and extremely muffled.

If you've had a recent cold then it could be this, I'd get checked out as the tubes leading from the nasal cavity to the ears might have some gunk leftover from the head cold in there and as such causing the symptoms you've described.

Seriously though - if you're concerned you should see a doctor before you shove anything up your ear or whatever...

You shouldn't shove anything up your ear - all you do is push the wax up against the ear drum making it even worse!

If you're getting a sticky ear, simply go see your practice nurse and get it sorted. You won't believe the difference it makes to your hearing afterwards!

Just to confirm what a few people have said - the only real takehome fact is to seek trained , official medical advice. I know its somethign I drag up periodically , but Its something that hexus has to be quite firm on.

That stuff is sold pretty much everywhere - seems to be a pretty safe and effective way of cleaning your ears - all be it completely overpriced was what is probably saline in a special bottle...

Have just been to see a nurse today dude, apparentlay my ear's are clear but inflamed and there may be an infection/cataar (sp?) in my inner ear. To be fair though I wouldn't class "ways to get your ears to pop?" as medical advice any more than I would "whats the best way to pick your nose?" So I thought it'd be a pretty fair question to ask.

Don't suppose anyone has the same problem as me....

I have a problem with my right ear where speech etc is all fine but when listening to music its much much quieter than my left ear.

I've tried otex which didn't help at all so i went to the doctor and he said its fluid behind the ear drum so he gave my a nasal spray, didn't help.

Haven't gone back as i've had a cold but just wondering if anyone had the same problem?

sounds similar to my left ear, muffled but you can still hear through it?

Wouldn't say its muffled, just quieter and a certain lack of bass

sounds close to the problem I'm experiencing, I've tested my hearing with headphones and while I still hear through the left channel the lower and higher frequencies aren't being heard properly.

Deffinately the same problem, i'd also say the vocals are slightly off center

yeah, sounds like we've got about the same problem, hopefully I should be getting something from the doctor tommorow to sort it.
