T-Mobiles Flext is a much better propositionin terms of value.
£35 for 900 minutes or 1800 texts or a combo of the both, you can't go wrong - especially as its a good network coverage wise.

It wont stay on the o2 network, as soon as the 3g signal is strong enough it'll go back to that on Nokia phones. Must be really poor in your area.

Once apon a time yes, however the setting was added to the newer phones (it feels a good while ago now) so that the handset doesnt change networks automatically as this was causing peoples calls to be dropped; thus the issue was dealt with.

iirc, didn't 3 lock the network menu on their phones (especially from the symbians they carry) so that its impossible for a user to force gsm signal all the time, since they have to pay o2 for the time people spend carrying calls on their network?

I cant change the network on my phone, the options look like they have been removed.

I will give three a call later, asking them to cancel my contract or find some sort of "fix". I dont really need anymore minutes or texts, but I will try to convince them to lower the monthly line rental.

You need to flash the firmware on the 7600s they provided if you want to lock them to 2G, because the network selection menu was removed. I never bothered, didn't need to.
