Just curious, I see an increasing amount of 12 yr olds and younger with them, and I just wonder what's the point at their age?
I was about 14 or 15 I think, even then I didn't really "need" it

Yeah, I misy have been about 14. Nokia 3210 I think.
My sister has a Pink Razer thingy... She's 12....
One little girl who lives in the road behind us has one and she's 10.
Think its more of a 'trendy if you've got one' thing.

Think I was around 15 years old.... eww the Motorola Flare was the phone
It was when One2One first launched and you just go into the stores and purchase the phone and then send of the credit agreement in the post
I got an older friend to purchase the phone (just in case they refused me as I didnt look nowhere near 18) and then I got my father to sign the credit agreement - he wasnt sure what he was signing at the time as I told him it was just a standard form and folded it over so he didnt read it , needless to say when the bills started to appear he wasnt too impressed although he did eventually see the funny side.

If I'd got one when I was 12 it would have come in a briefcase!
I was 19 when I got my first phone, a couple of guys at school had one when we were 16 or 17, but they were very expensive and a definate rarety. This is when using a phone in public was still considered arrogant rather than just bloody annoying!
They told me I was gullible ... and I believed them.
17, but that was almost 10 years ago, when mobiles were relatively rare and expensive, and you could still buy analogue PAYG phones (but mine was digital - oh yeah!)...
I was 16 and pulled the same stunt as Carl with my one2one "bronze" Motorola Flare
26 or 27 when phones were bricks.
I got my own one when I was 18, but had a shared one with my sis when I was 16 for when we went out. I think the one I got when I was 16 was a Nortel Networks thingy, on a Bronze One2One service. Then I got the standard Nokia 5110 that everyone had when i was 18.
Errrr...about 35 I think... Got it when my other half was expecting our daughter.
OK I guess I should have added that the poll applies to those who are of similar age to me, for the whole "schoolchildren with phones" aspect, lol

Got mine when I was 20.
I was in college when I got my first mobile so I think I was 16 or 17. I can't remember exactly what model it was, but it was a Siemens. It had 4 colours, voice dictation and vibration, which were revolutionary features back then
16 yrs old... when I started going to gigs and drinking in pubs.
18 years old, Nokia 101, then at 20 I got a Sony Mars bar...............
Thought I was the Don
