Hardly. I suspect that there are several younger people frequenting these forums who would struggle to acquire a retail position due to their below-average communication skills and self-confidence who will go on to achieve brilliant careers in highly technical fields, possibly even picking up social qualities on the way.

To dismiss these people out of hand is simply arrogance, something of which both you and Ben_ appear to have ample supplies.

You will need to take your passport and bank details with you.
You just get asked generic questions like "name a time you have worked well in a team", and then maybe some specific questions like about selling a laptop or something. A good thing to talk about if you get the chance is tailoring the solution to the customers needs by asking them about their usage and requirements.

    Hope this helps mate

    Re: Currys Interview

I had an interview at currys...

When I got there they gave me a 3-page leaflet about Ipods and then asked me to set up a mock sell to the interviewer. It sounds daunting but it was a doddle!

Then I had a short interview asking me if I had had a sales role before, my availability and if i knewe a lot about technology... and that was it!

And yes, I got the job...
Just be chatty, confident and friendly because thats what theyre looking for! Hope this helped!!

    Re: Currys Interview

    Blimey, this ones an antique...

I worked for Currys for 2 and a half years until April this year and I can tell you Currys is certainly an 'interesting' company to work for. You are expected to contend with upwards of 15 Key Performance indicators and some pretty challenging customers. Regional Managers set very high expectations and those recent adverts with Darth Vadar certainly seemed eerily realistic to me!

How good your Currys experience will be is entirely down to the store and the individual as quality of staff training varies wildly.

    Currys Lack of trust

Hi. I am surprised that the has been no mention yet of the poor breaks - 7 hour shift 30 mins, up to 6 hours shift 15 mins, less than 5 hours shift, NO BREAK !

The biggest affront is their policy of searching all staff before leaving the store. This is done with an airport style body scanner in full view of customers who often look on in amazement. A fear culture definitely exists and their promise of a comprehensive training scheme doesn't exist. You learn by your mistakes having been thrown in at the deep end. More experienced colleagues might help with processes but they are too focused on making their figures to spend any time with you.
