Question, bit random, but i dont normally buy these things

Where could i buy a 2' x 7' piece of chipboard? Without the veneer on one side

Is chipboard the stuff that lines loft floors etc? Or something

This stuff is what i need i reckon?

I basically need a panel of cheap cheap wood that i can rest vertically against a wall to use as a notice board, so i need it to be soft enough to push pins into

But dont know where to get it? Homebase maybe? Thing is it needs to be a good height/length

B&Q? Homebase? Builders Center? All should have what you're after.

Notice boards usually made of cork ,so maybe some cork tiles and glue them to a large piece of wood? should be able to get both from B&Q

Chipboard will be a bit too tough for pitting pins in. Places like B&Q should have something softer though.

Yeah, chipboard will be far too hard. Ideally you want cork as stated, but plasterboard would probably work O.K. as long as you're not fussed about having to renew it every so often, and the risk of bits falling off and making a mess. You could probably find some in a skip if you keep your eyes open.

dont use chip board if you want to stick pins in it mate its too hard..... Go and get some Low density fibreboard... Plasterboard will work too, but not as easy to dress up once it has a million holes in...

B&Q should be able to cut it down to size too. Perhaps it's only the bigger stores, but the one i go to in Aberdeen has a wood cutting service, buying something larger that 2'x7' wouldn't be a problem, but the most economical way might be to get something you can cut to be 2x 2'x3.5' etc.

I bought a pack of cork board from IKEA a few years back and just stuck it to a piece of MDF then hung it up. Was really easy to do even for a DIY mong like myself. Still works to this day.

Why not go down to argos or a local stationery store and buy a notice board?
Bored of the old one, new one coming soon

If the noticeboard is for Chuck Norris, he will be able to push pins into chipboard but anyone else would struggle.

Or you could get some of that green fibreboard underlay that goes under laminate floors from somewhere like Wickes. It's cheap but you will end up with about 10 square metres of it.

The best thing is to just buy a noticeboard from Office World or Viking Direct or somewhere.
