    Trick or Treaters

Are they knocking anyone elses door already? The little nobs start earlier every year it seems.

    And they expect money!

In my day we just had a dog set on us, and we were grateful for it.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halloween

31st. Its a week away and already they expect me to put my dinner down, stop watching the snooker and give some scruffy scallie with his hood up, and his sister who's wearing a bin bag with some glitter on it, 30p.

Saw some people walking around before, most of them in a tracksuit and a scream mask. Forget the dog, I'll go after them myself if they expect anything from me!

Yep, they can go and gargle with glass. I suppose that could be classed as a "trick".

None here yet.. I usually just say something along the lines of: "Oh the last kids got the last of the stuff" or "No sorry cya".

They don't seem to come to my house much though luckily, I think we only got one or two last year.

Im Going to a halloween party next sunday with a blue hawk, leather jacket, ripped t-shirt which reads some rather explicit quotes and some ripped jeans cos its fancy dress. Think I should go trick or treating like that after a few pints?

Some good things come out of living in the middle of nowhere like we do

We don't get trick or treaters (chavs) round here.

Can't do the cup of water thing anymore.. there's lots of kids round here and everyone actually talks to their neighbours

little gets used to get a pint or so from the upstairs window if they so much as breathed on the door. It's disgusting actually, just a form of legalised begging

Bonus of having to go through a locked gate to get to your doorbell - no trick or treaters, no door to door salesmen. ;D

I bet the Jehova's Witnesses still manage though eh?

I've had no bother for the last three years, as we live in a block of flats. Too much hassle for them to bother with. We should be in our new house by the 31st though- but I've got to be up at 4am, so I'll be in bed asleep with the lights (and doorbell) off.

    Shame.

i've not seen Guisers for years, but thats probably the area that i stay in how, not many families, mainly flats with couples or single occupants.

I have a problem calling it Trick or treating too. That is an american name, we always called it guising when i was little. From Wikipedia:
In Scotland, children or guisers are more likely to recite "The sky is blue, the grass is green, may we have our Halloween" instead of "trick or treat!". They visit neighbours in groups and must impress the members of the houses they visit with a song, poem, trick, joke or dance in order to earn their treats. Traditionally, nuts, oranges, apples and dried fruit were offered, though sometimes children would also earn a small amount of cash, usually a sixpence. Very small children often take part, for whom the experience of performing can be more terrifying than the ghosts outside
I'm not sure about the "sky is blue" quote, don't ever remember that one.

So did you just say "The grass is green may we have our halloween. And some money?"

Usually just ignore them, got a missus with a 4 year old now tho so she'll buy a bag of sweets n stuff.
If it was actually just little kids then not so bad, but when its the chavvy little mofo's that usually just hang about on corners or outside bargain boose then they can go feck emselves..

Luckily enough I don't get them ringing the doorbell of the flat I live in. Now saying that, I'll probably get some this year!

What really got me going is that fact that most of them don’t even make the effort of dressing up.
