Still, wouldn't do it myself. The most amount of gambling I used to do were the 2p machines you get in arcades. £1 could last a long time if you were any good.

Sure the more risk adverse amongst us would call him irresponsible. But I don't see the point in any more negative than that. It's not what you would do, and I don't see myself take such much risks either. But unless he continuously played against the odds (which in the long term would cost him - at least mathematically), he wouldn't 'lose in the end' anymore than prior that spin. What is important is what he does with the money he's won. And there are probably riskier ventures than an online gambling.

Even in various investment, where the people are more prone to 'calculate risks', there are people who do eventually lose more than their earn. Yea, I am inclined to say it seems 'safer' than just gambling on predetermined (unfavorable) odds. But I see that as just another level of risk even when you 'play' (calculate, research well).

There are worse crimes than theft. It still doesn't make a thief a cleaver person.

There's less to lose and overall more to be made. Its just slower.
This is completely different to any kind of investment.
Generally, investors win over time. Gamblers however lose.

... and I'd like to know what people do with their own money has to do with theft. He took the risk, he won. I would have no sympathy had he lost, nor do I have any sympathy for anyone seeking to emulate him and lost. As to his new venture, again, it's just another business. If he succeed, good for him (tough on the average punters - but again, it's their choice), if he fails, tough.

But he didn't lose. And he has twice the capital to invest. To say that he would lose ("big time") in the end is to assume that he would either continue playing the roulette with his fortune, or use his money differently (in a even less 'intelligent' manner) from had he not spinned. Yet with twice the capital, he has more investment options than prior the spin. And it does seem that he is choosing to use his money in other ways than another round (good for him, since the odds of winning two spins in a row is like 22%).

Wow. I would have been pissing my pants when the roulette wheel started rolling, and not have been able to look. Grats to the guy. What a lucky sod! Wish I had some luck and win the lottery for once.

I was simply making a comparison.
The point was that just becase what he was doing was not as bad as continuing to gamble his winnings does not make him clever or what he did any better than some addicted gambler frittering away their life savings before getting one lucky shot and ending up with double their money

And I'll just say again that you cant even siggest that this gamble was any kind of investment.
Yes, investment is a gamble allthough generally a better calcuated one, however a gamble is not an investment.

Well, the odds of winning twice in a row is.. considerably lower. I would consider it madness (first time it's about 1/2, but the second time is barely more than 2/5).

That said, on the subject of winning twice, check out this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcNw0...elated&search=
