I think it's fugly, but then I've never been a fan of Apple.
Havent actually seen any specs of it, but from listening to Radio 1 this morning they were on about internet access, but the phone isnt even 3G most bizzare!!
It has WiFi, so presumably they mean hotspots or on your wireless home network. Obviously it can use GPRS if you really want. But lack of 3G seems a huge oversight in this day and age. I can't help but feel that my Nokia N73 on the 3 X series tariff is better. Plus it only has a 2.0 mega pixel camera. A little low spec now, considering the competition in the high end mobile market.

EDGE is sort of an enhanced GPRS and only decently supported in this country by Orangee.
The main feature of this phone to shout about is Multi-Touch for the screen. Saw development vids on this ages ago, this is first device to feature it and could be amazing. Think the interface used in the film Minority Report and you are spot on - googie vids has a few clips of it.
In the end the iPod is not technically the best MP3 player available, not the best capacity, not the best battery etc. etc. but IMO it has the best combination and most importantly the best user experience. If @pple can bring this to the mobile market they're onto a winner.

I suspect it will end up being 3G when it hits the EU. It's not that hard to retrofit the necessary tech, especially in something costing this much.
Very nice - half way through the keynote video at the moment
I do want one...BUT its not 3G, which I guess makes sense since its designed for the american market where EDGE is much more prominent than 3g. It does mean that I will hold off buying one until the 3g version that Steve mentions in his keynote is released, not much point until then.
if they have designed this the way every other phone manufacturer deigns phones, they should be able to swap out the radio module and update the drivers/software module to cope with the new standard. If you make everything so tightly integrated that this is impossible then you are just asking for trouble.
This is why phones are moving from just having software to having an OS with mini apps and a de-coupled interface. An example of this is the regular SE phones (as opposed to Symbian/UIQ phones), when you update them there is two sets of software, the OS and the UI.
Apple would be idiots not to follow this model.
trippinzippy and bazzaka edge can be either 2g or 3g depending on how its implemented
