People who think London transport is bad make me laugh.
Come and live in the wilds of Hampshire for a few weeks without a car and see how you get on then

^^ Exactly or try most cities in Australia/USA. I live in SE London (a Public Transport Deprived Area) and it's still quite good - except that I cant use pay-as-you-go oyster nor top-up because it's national rail. Just means I buy my travel cards when in town.
The tube has been years behind in rail maintenance because of under-funding for years before Ken got in. Now I see more and more tube stations getting updated, along with carriages themselves (was on the district line the other day, totally refurbed from the 20-yo interior).
Updating a service that runs 20 hours a day is not an easy job, I'm glad I'm not doing it. Over-run engineering work is to be expected while there is a catch-up on years of neglect.
I have also seen a great improvement in the National Rail since I've been in London - only on Sundays is it unpredictable, and the carriages are getting a lot better interior too.

Still, after 20 years the place is starting to get me quite depressed. Must leave soon!

Londoners are not spoilt. They just have the world's most expensive transport system which is definitely not the worlds most reliable, nor the cleanest ...
Therefore, you dont get what you pay for ... Considering I am paying a lot for it, it makes me pissed.
But your not paying for it tho. When I was in London transport was like £25 for a Zone 1-2 pass
I pay more than that for far less decent service.
Londoners just like to whinge
What are you talking about ?
One day 1-2 zone pass is over £5 per day.
I didn't get free Bus/Tram travel in 6th form (and no one else I knew did), or college where I'm at now, and the 30% only applies to weekly or Monthly travelcards (which is good especially when you heavily rely on transport).
Although it may have been better when you were using it as a student, its still pricey and crap.
Haha, I feel you. Transport pisses me off every single time. Don't think I've ever had a plesent trip from or to school
Heh, and here I am excited about living in London for a year
Not a huge fan of the MRT tho.
