have an account which i used to be on loads but quite frankly it got boring.. in fact I don't think I've logged in for 3 months
I used to have the same negativity towards myspace etc, but you'd be surprised sometimes at who's on there (old friends, people you've not seen for a while) etc. Hardly use it now though....
A few of my mates have put it to very good use though and have managed to get gigs, or industry/field related work in music or video. So it's not like it's entirely pointless
oh god did i say fun? i meant TRAGIC

I'm not a myspace user, i got an account to
a. look at the pictures
b. satisfy the complaints of many of my friends
I hardly ever use it because MSN is a much easier way to get in contact.
My main gripes are
1. YOU CAN'T BLOODY REPLY TO PEOPLE'S MESSAGES ON YOUR OWN PAGE (forgive me if i'm wrong)
2. No one can be bothered to learn a few simple CSS tags to customise their page - they have to use free templates that look vile and have whacking great big tags on them saying "For more layouts click here!"
3. What is wrong with MSN? Most of the people i know who have a myspace account use MSN constantly.. and so do the people who leave messages on their myspace page.. wtf.
I admit that if you're a band or whatever, it's handy to put up tour dates, gigs, etc. and it's a convenient fan feedback tool. But in all fairness, why not just make a simple website with an opensource guestbook and a wordpress Blog?
'Nuff said.
EDIT: i was going to use facebook, i think that's the one, but i gave up after spending half an hour trying to find my school on the list, as it wouldn't let me sign on without it..
i made one...used for a month or two, then deleted it...
i personally hate facebook. interface is very dull and poorly thought out same with myspace but at least you can customise the look of your own page on myspace.
but looking at some of the profiles theyd be better if they hadn't.
