You could try the DNA 3.10 drivers for your 9800, nice increase in speed on my 9700np (And if im not mistaken image quality increase too)
    http://www.dna-drivers.nl/viewtopic.php?t=398

You should also try this Service pack patch, when microsoft released service pack 1 they messed up there IDE drivers, perhaps this might increase speed a little (Made quite an impact on my machine).

Did you try your agp set to 64?

Other things you could try is ask if anyone has the exact same configuration to you hardware wise, and if they have a higher score then ask them exactly what drivers they use and in what order they are installed, also what BIOS upgrade they have for the motherboard might give you that extra performance you need.

Also exactly what BIOS settings they have on the motherboard as well, every little helps

do you actulally do ANYTHING with your pc other than 3d mark?

    Not really I have done over 14000 with a 9500pro and 1700xp (albeit @ 2.2ghz).

I would suggest a reinstall whenever switching from nvidia to ati (or vice-versa).

Might ask my mate if I can try it in his HT 3.0 and see if that makes a difference, hes got Dual channel ram as well, if that makes a suitable difference I am just gonna upgrade the rest.....

Its only the CPU test... It only tests the CPU.
3dMark works out the score only using the first 4 tests which tests the graphics card...
