Have you tried re-installing the same? I had a similar problem with SOC and fixed it by re-installing the game.

    You completed the game? =O

Also, if it works ok now, was it reinstalling that fixed it?

Re: Is DX10.1 worth upgrading to?

Actually, I don't know what fixed it :S I think installed the BETA nvidia drivers (v177) may have helped. The bug I had/have seems to be ok 8 times out of 10... creeps back round occassionally, but Im not sure what it is. One thing I do know is that it's not my graphics card (thank god). Been on the official forums, and a few people are having the same problem.

Re: Is DX10.1 worth upgrading to?

I'm almost certain it's naff nvidia drivers. I had similar problems with my 8800GTS 512mb with nvidia drivers. I switched to 175.19 and most issues went away but recently I've had really bad tearing on Medieval TW II, on the command map - so I went and searched and found out that 177.83 xp 32 bit drivers were the best and used the Xtreme G version which has sorted the problems.

So I suggest you go to the 64bit version of 177.83 or above. http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads...ta_64-bit.html

    Xtreme-G 177.92 is out now http://www.tweakforce.com/

Re: Is DX10.1 worth upgrading to?

The Xtreme-G and PhysX is awesome! I just upgraded STALKER CS to the new patch, and my v177.94 drivers wont load the game after the first FMV.. but these Xtreme-G ones loaded it right up!

    Cheers!

Cool - glad to be of service - leave a tip at the thanks button

I hadn't come across those versions of nvidia drivers before. I only knew about the Omega ones, but he doesn't seem to have done the later nvidia versions so tried the xtreme-G one and was very happy with it. Let me know if that has solved your problemo as you get further into the game(s). I'm due to start a stalker session soon along with the Spore madness - I'm going indoors now, I might be some time.

In answer to your original question:

There are no DX10.1 games at present, so whether it's worth upgrading to can only be determined at some point in the future when there are DX10.1 games.

Re: Is DX10.1 worth upgrading to?

Yeah, 10.1 doesn't seem to add a lot, but then I'm no expert so will be interesting to see whether it makes a difference when games start using it.........it wouldn't surprise me though if it gets ignored by most developers.
