    GTX 280/260 55nm?

Are they refreshing these cards seems to be rumours going around any idea if this is going to happen and when. Just want to know before I order a GTX 260 or whether I should wait.

    Thanks

Also waiting to hear about these new cards. The first rumours I heard about these new cards was about 2 weeks ago. I'm wanting a 280, but I'm gonna wait for the newer cards.

A article on custom PC also said that the 260 might be getting a few more SP's to outdo the 4870, so i would wait tbh. I've not actaully seen/heard anything more about dates, which is a shame tbh.

Later this year it would appear, going to be called the GTX280+ and GTX260+

There will be a 45nm gtx280 too sometime next year, g212 core or something i believe it's meant to be called...

    Re: GTX 280/260 55nm?

It seems like they are going to have to disable only one quad on the new 260 so it beats the 4870 making it a bigger bargain than the old 260 and the new 280 as the performance between the 2 will be even smaller

That's assuming that nvidia don't jack the price up, which i'm pretty confident that they will.

The market will set the price, as always.

Historically die shrunk parts have lowered the price, rather than raising it. (e.g. 7800>7900) Time will tell.

I'm hanging on for the new 260. Heard a mate mention it's only a 5% increase in speed but a large increase in price. He could be just sucking eggs though, he bought the ATi card a couple of weeks back.

If you already have an 8800GTX/GTS/GT its deffo worth waiting for NVidias retaliation to the HD4 series. Im sure your performance is still up to scratch

    Re: GTX 280/260 55nm?

Is the new GTX260 reviewed on hexus the die shrink one? Or are Nvidia going to have 3 different types of GTX260 on sale in a few months time?

Why they can't just keep their product range simple I don't know.

It's not a die shrink version no. Just extra shader units. Die shrink one is yet to come so yes there will be 3 versions at some point!

    Re: GTX 280/260 55nm?

3 versions? That's just a pain in the ass. I'm still awaiting the GTX 280 die shrink. Wondering if I should just go ahead and get the Leadtek 280 for £240 on scan and upgrade from my 8800GT.
Cleavage is like the sun...Quick glances.

£240 for a gtx280 is pretty tempting to be honest.
