GTX 260 problem

hey guys having a problem with my new gtx 260 maxcore bfg gpu... all is fine untill i play warhammer online now when i play this i can hear it making a funny sound that goes on and off and at the exact point when i get a stutter on screen....

my thinking is a psu problem... not getting enough volts?

define funny sound? where's it coming from?
could it just be the fan on the card going faster?

Try using the ATitool http://www.techpowerup.com/atitool/ I've found that to be a good way of stress testing a graphics card.
Use speedfan or simular to monitor your voltages to make sure they are not falling to much.
You can give it a real workout by running TAT or simular at the same time to stress the cpu and memory to give you a fairly good MMO simulation.

take your side panel off and try to locate where the sound is coming from.

aye its comming from the graphics card as i have side panel off... its like when ingame it lags at same time the fan speed reduces etc

I get that on my X1950XT sometimes - a change in fan speed causes a temporary stutter.

Hmm, tried changing it in rivatuner? Set it to a speed thats quiet enough for you but keeps it cool and keep it there, that way the fan speed doesnt change and the lag should go.

i used evga precision to up the fan speed but still does it... ill see if its not getting enough juice or spikes

bout to use speedfan to check but what are the volts for pci-e connectors? +5v aint it?

Since I can not see the scale I have no idea what the change in voltages was like.

is it only in warhammer, what about other games? warhammer shouldn't really stress out any cards other than 7 series and below, maybe it's a driver problem, you got the most recent from nvidia?
