I don't know if the EEPROM is buggered. You're going to have to ask Dell about that. It's possible - as mentioned in the Dell thread I posted, that writing might only be enabled in service mode or another setting.

I've never flashed a Dell monitor, so I can't help you there.

Oooh, I got 'EDID write failed' as opposed to 'update failure' this time. That's promising.

The 2405fpws service mode differs to the 3008's. I actually need a signal displaying on screen to access the OSD and then get into the service menu. No signal, no OSD.

I have trid plugging the VGA cable into another PC so I can access the service menu that way whilst the other PC runs DDCW.

The 'EDID write failed' is new, not seen that before. Most of the time I just get 'update failed' so I guess I just need to keep trying until I get it at the right moment.

Re: Nvidias Win7 drivers screwed my monitor

    Dragging this thread back up.

Turns out the problem isn't Nvidia. It's Windows 7.

I recently installed Win7 on another PC to be used as a Media Centre with XBMC, this has an ATi graphics card and was connected to my Samsung LE32R41BDX 32" LCD TV.

Install went smoothly, Win7 detected the Samsung LCD correctly and displayed in it's native 1366x768 res.

A week later and it's gone tits, the monitor is displaying as 'Generic Non-PnP Monitor' and it won't allow me to set it's native resolution.

This likely means that my Samsung LCD's EDID is also corrupt, just like my Dell 2405fpw's.

    Seriously fuming.
