Cut down specifications on the tesla cards and now nvidia have started to go through yet more renaming in the 210 becoming the 310 series....
Talk about spin, spin, spin.
I can't understand this insane renaming system nvidia are currently going through. It seems that every 4 weeks they start renaming their GPU's to make it look like new hardware has come out even though its just a rehash of an old GPU.
This is confusing for the end users and is starting to damage their reputation because when they finally bring a new GPU out nobody will believe it is a new GPU.
Has nobody at Nvidia read the story about the boy who cried wolf?

Sounds like NV is going to spend the first half of 2010 getting creamed...For performance level markets, Nvidia will allow its GeForce GTS250, GT240/220 and 9800GT/9500GT defend against AMD's Radeon HD 5770/5750, 4870/4850 and 4670/4650.
For the mainstream market, Nvidia will mainly push its GeForce 210.
Indeed. I beta for another large hardware manufacturer (systems not components) and their standard NDA demands that you don't even tell people you're on the beta. Coming onto the biggest tech forum in the UK, and one of the biggest in the world, isn't bright. The only way I'd be comfortable even telling people I was on the beta for something would be if I wasn't on the beta for something.
Of course I doubt any legal action would follow my blabbing about it on here to the level that Rollo has, but I'd expect it to harm his chances of being selected for future betas, and it's always nice to get new toys to play with.
It's all right. He's got nothing to spin till at least march/april. Assuming they hit retail at all.
I'm betting that you'll only be able to get fermi cards at silly prices and you'll just get rebadged crap to "fill in" till they fix it... or if they fix it.

shiny? urm nope... Another rebrand.NVIDIA GeForce GTS360M en 1GB GDDR5 VRAM
Well i guess you have to pay the pr monkeys to do something. btw its just a rebadged G215 downclocked to a mobile part.
For Pete's sake Rollo; get of your high horse! You don't need anyone's help to start a flame war.
Now I'm getting really confused with these nVidia products. Is it really the case that we've not seen anything fundamentally new from the Big Green since the 8xxx? I get the impression that the releases since then have just been refreshes of the silicon based on design tweaks and process reductions....? Please correct me if I'm wrong here.
OK, we all agree that the 8800 was the dogs boo-locks, and the refreshes since have been pretty good as well, but is the 300 series going to be a mis-mash of new technology based upon Fermi and yet another refresh of the 8800?
To review a couple of points above, I thought we discussed release dates a couple of months ago and determined that 1Q'10 by the Chinese financial calendar in the 2Q'10 by the Western calendar?
In that case, I see nothing new here but the news that ATi are releasing something new in Jan/Feb. Whilst they've had plenty of time waiting for nVidia to release a DX11 part, I'm a little skeptical on that and would guess it's just a refresh of the 5xxx series. I'd have thought that a fresh design so soon after the last would have thrown their annual release cycle into chaos.
And before the inevitable response by Mr. nV I guess we need some form of disclaimer..... Yes we want nVidia to release something competitive. We hope it's better than the equivalent ATi part and that it's priced competitively. We don't need to worry about feature set because we all know that the existing features plus DX11 are all we need and certainly don't need to be reminded about them. We hope that should ATi pop something special out in response to the almighty Fermi, that nVidia will be right along behind it with a turbo card with go-faster stripes. I'm sure it'll be capable of making me a nice cup of tea whilst planning the evolution of my network to LTE. In fact, we won't need 4G after Fermi, 'cos I'm hoping that it'll sort out that for me as well.

FUD?
Sorry mate. NV PR doing enough of that themselves.
Oh look... new NV 3 series card... oh wait... its a rebrand.
Joke. Its clearly aimed at ripping off the consumer. And its not an isolated incident. Its been continuous recently.
Laptop chips, the LAUGHABLE new cards (hint. a basic 9600gt equals them easily.) The OMG wait till fermi is here its going to be awesome.
When NV actually produces the goods. I might be impressed.
Right now. Its all smoke mirrors and desperation.
NV is like a pathetically endowed virgin on his first night out... and the girls are pointing and laughing and saying "Is that it?"
