    well..... I too have just got a 9800... BUT... if my old 32MB GeForce2 survived until last christmas (3 years old by then), and when I got it, 9800's didn't exsist or at least were very new and hugely expensive (can't remember.. slept since then).. then it figures that by the time this one starts struggling, these sooper-dooper cards being reviewed now will be cheap as chips... and I'll get one then.

    I thought the NV40 would put up more of a fight against it, but completely blown away in the higher AA/AF.

    Looking at the 3dmark ill prolly just get a 9800XT in september, for £100 as 4x AA/AF is enough for me and as they kept up with the NV40 im not complaining...Or i just get a 9800pro and overclock it to 9800XT+

    It looks as if nvidia are actually making steps in the right direction with this card, unlike FX stuff - still made to look amature though...:S

    nvidia cards were ok untill half way between the gf4 an gf fx releases. It was about that time they decided benchmark scores were all that mattered and so the fx5800 was born. They relised it was still crap and started cheating in there drivers. I think now they are starting to play fair again.

    Its also funny how everyones opinion about both companys has changed..

    My future upgrades are all waiting for one thing. I want a pci-e gfx card, amd64 mobo and cpu. AFAIk none of the current mobos are that good, and also waiting for many more socket changes to take place...

    I think nvidia have done very well this time round and are definitly back on track, I think Ati still having the lead is just a knockon effect from the fx5800 as SD mentioned.

    I think its time we all visit here and see how the demos run on our crappy cards.

    Yes next time I will also try to rememeber that when my 9700 isnt in my pc the banshee cant quite manage with graphical stuffs, meaning I just waited half hour for it to d/l for no reson.
    Was expecting some stuff to arrive today - which didnt, so I wont be able to use the 9700 for atleast 2 more days

    Oh, just realised one point that i kept forgetting....dont know how much these would effect it, but may give better image quality?
    NV40:
    1) PS3.0
    2) VS2.0
    3) FP32 FP16
    4) Super sampling
    http://www.hexus.net/content/reviews...JsX3BhZ2U9Mg==
    Now....i have no idea what those mean/do. So if anyone wants to tell me i would be much appreciated

    Simply put, ATI have talked the talk and walked the walk to the dismay of Nvidia. Call me an ATI fan-boy but i love it just a cracking card.

    61.11's do offer significant performance increases apparently, but the old story remains as resolution increases and AA/AF are switched on the ol' geforce bends over and takes it from ATi.

    Got this error trying to run the Ruby demo on a 9600 Pro. Perhaps it's only a PS2.0a card?
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    probably only works on x800's then, ps v2.b being for r420's only - ati decided to extend ps2 instead of switching to ps3. Afaik ps2a and 2b are not compatable extensions - ps2a being the nvidia's extensions.

    AA and AF look better on ati cards too, apparently... and AF seems to make no performance difference on x800, same for 9700's? I cant remember...

    While I'm certainly saving my dough so I can purchase this beast, I'm left scratching my head- isn't the X800 XT PE supposed to compete with the 6900 or 6950 Ultra? If you look at the performance numbers, the 6800 and X800 Pro are darn close. I suppose this little Nvidia fanboy has his fingers crossed for the 6900....
