HD6950 and HD6970 specifications leaked??

Nah, they only raise the prices if they're the last retailer with stock. As per usual they've ordered a ridiculous number at launch, 1100 cards between the 6950/6970. As it is now, they're cheap. Prices will go up in the new year due to VAT, and AMD usually raise the prices of their cards slightly once they've been on sale a few weeks too. You're looking at £280 to buy a 6970 from OcUK now. I can almost guarantee come the end of January they'll be 310-320.

Overclockers always launch with inflated prices, then other etailers (such as Scan) follow suit to get a few easy pounds... well they will if demand allows them to.

It's been this way with graphics cards for a couple of years now. For a more balanced view on pricing, wait a few weeks until stock levels rise among all the etailers.

The russian benchmark is really disappointing. It does indeed look like that's how these cards will perform, it's pretty pathetic really. Am depressed, I wanted to buy a pair :S

It looks like the HD6970 is around the same speed as a GTX480 and GTX570 and in some cases can compete with a GTX580.

The GF110 is 520MM2 whereas the GPU in the HD6970 is 389MM2.

This is a win for Nvidia??

I've just read the reviews at 30", including AA.
All is forgiven AMD, all is forgiven.

HD5870: 10.3fps
HD5970: 13.5fps
2x HD5970 QCF: 16.7fps
HD6970: 18.7fps

That's some epic increases there, two in crossfire should be looking at a good 35fps given how HD6 series scaling has been going. That's bloody impressive for 30" of maxed out Crysis.

The one thing that's bound to be better than nvidia is power draw.

Assuming you don't turn PowerTune up, then it'll be close.
The GTX570's typical draw's about 230-240W, and the rated maximum TDP of the HD6970 is 250W with Powertune at max. That said, the 570's been known to draw 270W on occasions.

Seriously, what exactly do you think Folding is? It's not just a massive benchmark, it actually makes a difference. It's the largest cluster computer in the world and every protein analysed in the field of medicine is done that little bit quicker because of folding@home. Does it affect me personally? Put it this way: many close members of my family have been or are affected by cancer or alzheimers. I guess I'm a terrible person, wasting my time on such a useless project, how about I do something productive and play some games! Excellent plan, thanks for restarting this argument Georgy!
