    Graphics card with decent warranty

I'm looking to get a decent, fast ATI graphics card to replace my dead 8800GTX and need a decent warranty. What's a decent one at the moment that's with the manufacturer, and won't result in the possibility of only being given a partial refund if it's not possible to fix it in a year's time..?

It looks like XFX isn't that good, Sapphire isn't great and Asus is ok? I'm thinking of a 6950..

I do live very near Scan, but I'm a bit uncertain given some of the graphics cards RMAs that have gone on - hence looking for ones direct with the manufacturer

Re: Graphics card with decent warranty

Well XFX have always been a good make for me.
Plus they have a lifetime warranty.

Otherwise MSI like the chap above said. Reliable make even if they do only sport a two year warranty.

Re: Graphics card with decent warranty

Personally I would recommend XFX as I've never had any trouble with them or their products.

But of course, it is personal preference. Shop around to see what deals you can find.

Re: Graphics card with decent warranty

Sorry to the above guys, but avoid XFX the best you can. The number of dead XFX cards I've seen is scary.

Almost every single XFX card I used over a period of about 2 years was RMAed at some point.

Not sure if they are better these days, but once bitten and all that....

Re: Graphics card with decent warranty

As proved above at the end of the day it does seem to be personal preference and past experience. I guess if you did have continuous problems with one manufacturer it would make you think less of them, it makes sense really.

But like I said, shop around to see what deals you can find.

Did you go for a AMD 6950 in the end? As would love to hear if you are having the same driver problems as i am having?

Isn't the shop just as important as the manufacturer? I got a powercolor 4870 and I don't think they even have customer support but novatech did all the repair/returns process for me - I never contacted the manufacturer at all.

Some manufacturers will state that you will have a 2 year (or whatever) warranty with the retailer, and probably have very limited facilities to handle RMAs themselves, another manufacturer would be Inno3D/Force3D, but I imagine there would be a number of them.

Re: Graphics card with decent warranty

One thing to take into consideration is do they have a UK returns policy as the warranty means nowt if you have to send it back to an abroad address as it will cost a small fortune.

Re: Graphics card with decent warranty

Compiled a list, with abit of help via google etc, if you can add any comments positive or negative then I'll ammend the list accordingly.

Not sure about other brands but I've done abit of research . . . . .

Gigabyte - UK RMA Base - 3 Year Warranty. (Around 2 working days to sort out.)

HIS - Hong Kong/China RMA Base - (OcUK are dealing with the warranty, even in the 2nd year, so should be no more than 3-5 working days.)

KFA2 - UK RMA Base - 2 Year Warranty (Galaxy's Euro Brand - RMA Base used to be BFG's)

MSI - UK RMA Base - 2 Year Warranty (Read forum threads - around 2 weeks RMA.)

PNY - France RMA Base - 2 Year Warranty (Around 3 Working Days)

EVGA - Germany RMA Base - 10 Year Warranty Only on some models (SC and F.T.W), other models 2 year Warranty (Around 2 weeks - possible graphics upgrade)

Zotac - UK Phone Number - 5 Year Warranty registered with Zotac, otherwise 2 year Warranty. (Not sure how long RMA takes.)

    --------------------------------------------------------------

Gainward - RMA via retailer only - 2 Year Warranty (Depends which retailer you bought it from as to the service you'll get.)

Inno3D/Force3D - RMA via retailer only - 2 Year Warranty ((Depends which retailer you bought it from as to the service you'll get.)

Palit - Hong Kong RMA Base - RMA via retailer only - 2 Year Warranty (Depends which retailer you bought it from as to the service you'll get.)

Asus - ? ? ? RMA Base - 2-3 Year Warranty (Take's over 4 weeks for Graphics Card RMA) AVOID!

PowerColor - Taiwan ? ? ? - 2 Year Warranty (Avoid like the plague, RMA seems to be non-existant for european customers!)

XFX - UK RMA Base - 2 Year Warranty (XFX only have lifetime warranty in the USA - they have a UK RMA base but their customer support is really poor having read various forums, stay away from them for sure) AVOID!

Sapphire - Hungary RMA Base - 2 Year Warranty (Take over 4 weeks upto 8 weeks!) AVOID!

You can add PNY to that list. RMA to France, but only takes about 3 days. Very friendly CS and no messing about

Re: Graphics card with decent warranty

Seems like Gigabyte and MSI are the way to go for UK if you want to avoid paying much for Euro delivery costs.

Also, Zotac (Nvidia) are a sister company of Sapphire (ATI), parent is PC Partner I think, but no idea if they share RMA facilities, certainly Zotac offers a far longer warranty length.

Anyone know much about Inno3D, Gainward or Palit RMA? It look's like no one distributes Leadtek in the UK anymore so haven't included them.

Very nice list, here's a couple of changes/additions

EVGA - Germany RMA Base - 10 Year Warranty Only on some models (SC and FTW), other models 2 year Warranty (Around 2 weeks - possible graphics upgrade)

Palit / Gainward - RMA via retailer only, so depends who you bought it from as to the service you'll get.

XFX - UK RMA Base - 2 Year Warranty (XFX only have lifetime warranty in the USA)
(I definitly would NOT touch they have a UK RMA base but their customer support is really poor having read various forums, stay away from them for sure) AVOID!

Re: Graphics card with decent warranty

I know multiple instances where people have been sent back faulty XFX cards after a RMA with them. With so many alternatives, it’s just not worth going with them.
