IIRC, the 560Ti only managed around 40-45fps average @ 1080p with everything turned up in BF3 - the minimum was in the low 30s.

The "high" detail preset only produced a minimum fps in the mid 40's at the same res.

I'll rephrase, my current requirement is 60FPS in general, hence the 560Ti is no good and wont be for BF4 in the future.

Damn technology! I want the 770 but I don't want to be bitten by AMD, hence thinking the 760 gives me £120 discount off a future upgrade.

Its more of a want than a need.
Bitten by AMD? I am sure there are people reading this thinking the opposite...

Both companies are as good/bad as each other. I've recently been stung by AMD drivers not working properly with HDMI audio on my 7970 (needed the 13.6 beta 2 driver to resolve)....and at the same time as dealing with that I have been modding older nVidia drivers to work with the 780 because nVidia couldn't get the 780 drivers right in BF3 (and other games).

If your main driving force is Battlefield, I would look towards AMD, they do tend to play better with the BF series.

Re: The best way to go...

I was more or less referring to the unknown, regarding to whether AMD changes the landscape of the GPU market, and i'm then forced to pay out on AMD.
I am actually less optimistic now, as I believe they wont rock things up but follow the nvidia tactic of matching the card to just beat the competitor at a price point, as it makes the most economic sense and they need the money.
At the end of the day its dead money and i'll use the performance/value ratio, and currently the 760 is the champ.

Yeah, sometimes it just isn't worth over-thinking things, especially when so little is known about future products.

Get something that will make you happy now.

Bro, just wait for a few months, let's see what AMD is going to do with their new cards. It is possible their new cards will be powerful and will come with bundle games like BF4. So, hold on. It's not like you don't have a card at all now, is it?

Re: The best way to go...

Well at this moment in time the gtx760 is very good performance for price, it's generally cheaper than the 7950 and outperforms it, however I expect a price drop on the amd cards soon to try to counter this.

I also expect the main change the new xbox and playstation will make is games that are actual DX11 not DX9 with a few additional dx11 bits thrown in.

Personally I don't think you need to worry about fps that much, BF is not really a twitch game, if you ever watch competitive games where twitch reactions are important you'll see they don't have massively fancy graphics or effects because they get in the way so become a disadvantage as they both slow your reactions and reduce your fps.

I don't see myself changing my gtx560ti any time soon but then again I'm still on a 1680x1050 monitor.

Re: The best way to go...

I never get the CS:S players with 200+ FPS, who moan about low FPS. The monitor can't even display them.
But under 60 is just not smooth. Its like with HDTV once you have it standard is horrid.
Once you notice the motion of a game with over 60 FPS in comparison to one with 40 FPS you wonder how you put up with it.

I dunno, they've already dropped prices so many times and they need to hit their targets to return to profit.
They will need to rely on their superior bundle to drive sales.

It looks like some retailers are offering extended games bundles.

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/produc...Asc&subid=1502

8 games with the 7850's too.

I suppose the GTX760 should to be about £150~ to compete... £160 -£165~ if NV bundle a game or two.

Aye me too. If I can't find a GTX770 with the titan HSF for £300ish shortly I'll be getting a 7950 or 7970 from them I think. Its a much better deal than the titan GTX770.

It's a much better idea than buying a card based on looks.

Out of the 8 I will be buying Crysis 3, Far Cry 3, BioShock, Sim City and Blood Dragon if I went for a 760 so by getting a 7950 now I won't actually be spending much and can always upgrade without much (or any) loss come 8xxx series.
