Well I just spent a lot of money...

Went for a HIS HD 7950 IceQ BOOST 3072MB (the 8 free games were too good to pass up) and a Dell U2713HM.

    Bring on Saturday!

That's a good card, with an excellent cooler. The eight game bundle really adds to the value.

The 2713 speaks for itself - Epic monitor.

Looks like they are also throwing in Shogun 2 so thats 9 games

The card should do me well until I see what AMD has up its sleeve later in the year and I can sell to upgrade is required.

A new graphics card with 9 games and a really nice monitor to play them on. Happy days.

It would be cool if you could give us your thoughts on the u2713.

Re: The best way to go...

I expect I'll love it, I had a Dell 24inch Ultrasharp for 8 years before it went pop a few months ago and loved it so much, so getting the newer and bigger brother seemed like the best choice.

PCbuyit delivers on a no dead or bright pixel policy with next day swap out (where as Dell's official stance is just no bright pixel) so that's where I got it from.

Then for what reason? There are custom coolers that offer superior performance.

Indeed the ACX cooler is cooler and quieter, just doesn't look as good.

We already had this discussion back in this thread. http://forums.hexus.net/hexus-review...gtx-770-a.html

The GTX770 fitted with the Titan HSF performs as well as the other cards but vents all the heat from the case silently and while keeping the temps within a few degrees of a card that dumps all the heat into the case. This means I could use the card in any case (Mini ATX or ITX eg) without having to the deal with a heat and noise problem or fit a second card without issues. If I use the aftermarket models in SLI I need to deal with 4-500 watts of GPU's heating the whole system up.

The Titan cooler is much more flexible than what any of the OEM's are using.

Monitors that go 'pop', can sometimes be ridiculously easy to fix, for want of a few minutes with a soldering iron. I repaired a dead Dell 3007 WFP-HC for a massive 82 pence - it's still my main screen almost a year and a half later - £4 got me a new inverter transformer that repaired my son's Samsung TV, and a fiver's worth of capacitors fixed two of my 22" Samsung monitors. To name but a few.

EVGA and PNY both do blower style models, I'm sure they aren't the only ones either.

I've seen the PNY XLR8 and its not a very good card. Plus it's PNY.

    The EVGA GTX770 classified?

I admit that PNY aren't a very glamorous brand, but I know people who've had some cracking results with PNY SLI.
And yes if they had the reference model at a similar price I would probably prefer that based on looks, but I wouldn't say reference or bust.

Yep, my Dad currently has it apart and has identified something that looks very wrong (stumpy black AA battery) so we should be able to fix it at some point. It's currently 200 miles away from me. I just used it as an excuse to get myself the U2713HM
