I've come across a lot of people saying that they use 1280 x 960 because it's squarer, as opposed to 1280 x 1024. The thing is, the numbers don't hold up to inspection. Simply (suck this egg, Grandma) squarer resolutions would give you a number closer to 1 when you divide them...
D'oh! Ive just realised why. It's nothing to do with square. 4:3 screens give you 1.33 (recurring), as do 1280 x 960 resolutions.
It still looks weird to me, but I'll give it a try.
