mines still working great little cards!

if you can go a bit higher you can get a 9800pro in a sale or second hand cheap

he only plays css though and thats not a hugely demanding game, if you want to play it omn high settings get a 9800 se but my 9550 runs it on medium settings fine

Check the speed of the ram on both cards. At this price point the 256MB versions tend to have slower ram which hurts the performance more than the boost from the additional memory. I would go with a higher speed 128MB personally as cards at that power level just aren't going to be using the extra ram at the resolutions and image settings they will be run at.

I would say sapphire is pretty much on par with connect3d, don't think there's much between them and both are solid companies with decently reliable products.

Well after looking into it both cards have the same ram speed (400Mhz) which seems odd at the price point until you look at the core speed.

The 9550 (256mb ram) runs at a core speed of 250Mhz whilst the 9600 (128mb ram) has a core speed of 325Mhz. Since they are pretty much the same core I'd go with the 9600.

make make sure you get the 128 bit version not the much slower 64 bit version.

Well I think the 9550 needs flashing to a 9600 bios to overclock it and also needs a healthy overclock to reach the speed of the 9600 so it would be better to start with the 9600. As to ocing it I'm uncertain how far you'd get.

Lads my m8 has offered to sell me his brand new packaged 5700 LE 128mb and throwing in this gfx card blower that goes in a pci slot. I know LE are frowned upon. But this card should run CSS better than my ti4200 right? Hes only asking 30 quid which is nice of him
