10 grand budget will get you a PC with 4 512MB GTX in SLI.. Thats if Nvidia decides to do it. Throw in dual, dual Opterons at 2.8Ghz and 4GB of memory.. Instant heaven.. 19x16 + 8xTSAA 16xAF above 100fps anytime..

And there's enough left for 8 DELL 2405s..
    Me want Ultrabook

That would be stupid, you could get the same performance for 5000, easy. 4GB of memory is of no use to gamers.

It's a shame that PC gaming is just pricing itself out of the market. Of the 6-12 high profile games that come out each year you need to upgrade every year to be able to play them at a high specs.

I can't see it being more than the coming generation of games consoles before PC gaming is as good as dead.

Actually this is probably great news for the slightly more cheapskate of us - all the early adopters who got the 7800gtx as soon as it came out will upgrade (because their card is now old and out of date ) putting a few more 7800gtx's on the second hand market

They can justify the price fine - you want the best, you pay the most, and as mentioned before, there's still room for more growth based on other component costs. Besides, once you sell off your old gtx, the price difference is only the same as a 7800gt

    It's all relative.

I work in the accounts section of a garage. I know next to nothing about cars, but if you saw the amount of cash some of our mechanics throw at their car projects for "vented this" or "boosted that", then all of a sudden, £500 for a graphics card starts to feel almost reasonable!
