Can't give you an exact figure, but the 7900GTX will laugh in the face of an X850XT. It's also more than a generation newer.

it will be way more powerful with that res and 4X AA than the X850XT, but a X1900XTX is more powerful than the 7900, especially with the res and AA.

aah thanks for that, i would have bought the X1900XTX but they're over 400quid, maybe i should have waited a few weeks the prices would have dropped for sure. but i always wanted a nvidia gpu. is there a significant AA/AF performance difference between both cards running at 1920X1200?.

BUT now im thinking, with 350quid that i just spent on the 7900gtx, i could have bought an Xbox360 with elders scrolls and ghost recon. damn i just dont know what to do.

    any advise/comments are welcome thanks!!

You can get an X1800XT for cheaper now, they offer 90% of the performance for only 2/3 of the cost..

Sure, it might be nice to have the lastest and greatest tech, but the 7800GT/GTX is where the sensible money is being spent.

And the PowerColor XT for £317. Save thirty quid and clock it up . Looks like a better card than the 7900s as well, from the reviews I've seen.

That's the cheapest I've seen from a UK online retailer btw.

I did not mean those cards specfically, i'm just saying that you pay a premium for the bleeding edge. Now the 7900's are out, the slighly older cards (ATI & nVidia) can be had at bargin-tastic prices. I was talking 'bangs per buck'.

Agreed with Dom on the good value cards. Especially as the X1900XT/XTX are going down in price a LOT - and considering they outperform the 7900 series in a lot of tests

    Oh i see.

Well for me the 7800GTX is pointless because of the X1800XT.....

The 7800GT is still a good buy for around 180quid if you can find it, but ATI seem to be dropping there prices a lot.

But yeah, the top end cards, have never been the best bang per buck, there designed as the fastest you can buy, nothing else.

bloody hell! they sent me the wrong one!!!, i got the 7900gt 256mb instead of the 7900gtx, stupid idiots, was well happy untill i saw the X missing, lol, i dont blame them though the boxes for all the models look the same for xfx range.

just phoned them up and got my RMA number, i lied to them and said i already opened it without realising lol so i can test it lol, so im gonna test this graphics card for a week then send it back to them the idiots toook 28 minutes on the phone to get my RMA number god knows how much that cost for 0870 number.

i bet this still kills my x850xt.

btw thanks for the replies, to be honest, im gonna get my money back and wait for the G80, that would be the most sensible thing to do. besides the x850xt still pretty good i can play BF2 1600x1200 2XAA and get smooth framrates. (but i still got the xbox360 in mind )

    thanks guys.
